Right now, I'm trying to decide between Alias or Fringe but I'm just not quite sure at all so I want to ask you, Escapist community. What do you think?

Fringe but only because I've never watched Alias so I'm at least aware of the quality of Fringe.

Dunno the first thing about either, but I get consistently praise-filled recommendations for Fringe.

I've seen 2 and half seasons of Fringe, season 1 and 2 are top notch. I gave up halfway through season 3, it got a bit too ridiculous for me. I've never seen Alias so I vote Fringe.

Fringe, up to a point. The whole series isn't worth watching, but the first couple seasons are min bogglingly awesome.

They are done by the same person and suffer from the same fate, namely that J.J Abrams is like a 2 year old with a shiny new toy and all his shows get abandoned and turn to shit.

In the case of alias it happens somewhere around season 3 (?) at which point he comes back to save it for the next season or 2 only to let it turn to shit for the last season.
As for fringe it's basically a slow descent into madness and piling story arc on story arc until the whole thing is like a clown car so overstuffed that it stops being interesting and after a while it drives off without you even noticing.

your choices are:
one of the best spy thriller T.V shows that you will hate for a while and then stop caring about as the characters get killed at a rate of 10 an episode for the final season.
One of the best X-files type clones that you will stop caring about as the story grows more convoluted and less interesting.

Watch the first episode of Alias, It's been a while and I'm not sure if it holds up but I remember it blowing the minds of me and a half dozen friends and family when we watched it.

One is about Jennifer Garner in skimpy clothes running round in a spy story that I'm not sure is taking itself seriously or not. It shouldn't be, and mostly looks like it isn't, but sometimes it seems the authors don't know how silly the whole thing is.

The other takes itself way too seriously. It's less silly, but not much more sensible though.

Both seemed fairly "meh" to me, but Alias mostly knew it was "meh".

I haven't seen Alias, but Fringe was really good... until about 7/8th of the way through season 2, then it became unbelievably stupid. And unlike Heroes, you can't even really just watch the first season and then pretend that the show is all wrapped up and ends there.

Both are awesome. Fringe is a bit procedural, even though its about 'science' supernatural stuff, so it you are sick of how procedural all TV is these days definitely start with Alias. A lot of people said Alias went bad in season 4 or 5 but I liked all of it, even though season 5 was kinda ridiculous cos Jennifer Garner got pregnant but said fuck it I'm gonna film anyway so she was doing all this spy shit while pregnant and they just wrote it into the show. The ending was pretty bad and didn't resolve the story at all, but nowhere near the levels of Lost and all the notoriously terrible endings we've seen since then. Also Alias is where Bradley Cooper started before he became a big shot.

Fringe. Alias is cool too but Fringe is great!

However, having just finished watching Narcos, I'd recommend that. :p

I don't like either of them. But if I had to watch one again, I'd go for Alias.
