at the moment I have:

3 DS
4 DS
7 PS1
8 PS1
9 PSN
10 PS2
12 PS2
13 PS3

at the moment I'm thinking of picking up Final Fantasy Origins (for 1 and 2) and Anthology (for 5 and 6). Then, aside from 3 and 4 all of the final fantasy games can be played on my PS3.

before I go down that path, I'd like to know a few things:
Is there a major difference between Origins, Dawn of Souls and the PSP versions? I'm not really too concerned with the portable aspect just the content. they all seem to be about the same price (no more than $20), so which of these would be considered the must play version?

i looked around for the GBA versions of 5 and 6 and noticed that they're $30 each, if I'm lucky. I saw the Anthology for $17 on Amazon so I'd like to know, are the GBA versions THAT much better? If they are then I might consider the extra $43. I've wasted $43 on worse things. If not then I'll get the Anthology.

if there is a better version of these 4 games, let me know and I'll consider it.

Just get the GBA Dawn of Souls port for 1 and 2. If it's cheaper than the PSP ones combined.

For 5 and 6, I also recommend the GBA ports.

You're in for a treat with the job system of 5. :p

what is it about the GBA versions you like better? sound? looks? script translation? Do the games do that much better with the portability aspect as opposed to being tied to a TV?

I played the dawn of souls version of I and II quite a while after I tried origins and liked it better I could be wrong but I believe they may have been slightly remixed again to be easier either that or I got a lot better at them.
Anthology is FFIV and V by the way over in PAL country (its literally by the side of me) but it seems The USA got VI in there as well according to wiki so I assume thats the one you mean (just checking).I played V on PS1 and GBA and only managed to finish the GBA version (just seemed more fun) While I played and really liked VI on the PS1 never played the GBA version.

I dont think there is a lot in it TBH just get the cheapest versions you can V and VI are still fun but I and II arent really very impressive in anyway shape or form nowadays IMO.

Portability is one and the key. The ports are all well-done, imo.

Also, the DS and GBA SP are better for handheld play, imo, since their screens can be shut, making them less fragile.
