Since I know people who recall a time when it was at the height of its size and might I need to go with the British Empire. Sure post-WW1 it was under the pressure but that's when it was at its largest after all... damned Atlantic Charter, they knew damn well waht they were doing.

I like the British. They were, to my knowledge, the only empire to believe in natural rights. They did the lion's share of the work in ending slavery. I think their government was a bit wonky, but I guess that is part of being an empire. IMO, they should never have went looking for another monarch after Parliament took control from Richard II.

(I think it was Richard II. If I am incorrect on this, be kind.)
