So few people care anymore. Even a little bit of empathy and respect for others apparently requires too much effort, because somehow being on the internet is a free pass to abandon our common humanity.

Abandoning common humanity.... you know, like going through threads and calling people out on their character traits.

Daystar is a nice, light hearted guy, whose popularity is born of his temperament and charisma. In real life he is exactly the same, a pleasure to talk to and a good laugh. He doesn't act any differently when you speak to him through a computer or more traditional means without anonymity.

Tell me, when you are in a pub, say, and you overhear someone you have never met say a joke about something that is going on in the news on the wall and you didn't like that joke, do you call them out, tell them they are bad, and then character assassinate them? Of course not, because that would be a horrible thing to do. You accept that people have differing opinions and react to things in different ways, and you get on with your life. Yet, on here, you do just that, and then make exasperated comments about how people act differently online.

Kinda hypocritical ain't it?

Nah, I agree with Maiev, and you're pretty much the worst of it Daystar. You're probably the single most active poster on the entire forum, but I can't remember a single opinion you hold (other than you like Okami, I suppose). You're as low impact as posters come and quite frankly rather dull, which is how you keep going for so long.

I care because I thought this was a place for discussion. What I found was a cleverly disguised 4chan. All the hate is there. All the stereotyping. All the memes. Only the targets are different. Nothing is gained. No progress is made. No topic is argued and no points are made. This forum has become a stagnant mess where discussion goes to die, paraded on by faux humor and a tissue thin disguise.

But apparently no one cares.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You (the royal you, not you) are right. "They" are wrong. Make fun of them. Ignore their points. They don't matter. But they sure as shit better not do the same! Or else they are clearly trolls or assholes.

The issue matters.

Your feelings do not. Your feelings on the matter don't interest me in the slightest, only the facts. Can't present an opinion that isn't mired in hyperbole? Then I have no reason to care.

Of course feelings don't matter. That's why it's okay to make fun of black people and call them racists slurs.

You don't get to have your cake and eat it to. You don't get to claim it's different when you do it. You don't get to try and move the goal post to suit your moment to moment actions.

People's emotions and feelings matter. If you don't think so, never again can you ever defend someone being upset by any form of slur. You can't argue that has anything to do with "facts."

Making fun of racists and sexists isn't the same as actually being racist and sexist.
