At least DC didn't just kill off it's animated universe like Marvel did... yeah remember the X-Men characters you grew up with watching and loving? They're dead. They're universe was destroyed, making all that struggling that they went through ultimately pointless.Kalezian said:SaneAmongInsane said:So I was reading up on the DC Universe, and it turns out they have an entire earth were the superheroes genders are swapped and that got me thinking....
Why don't they have a universe where everyone's race would be swapped? So you'd have Black Batman, Black Superman, Asian Green Lantern... and most importantly, WHITE LUKE CAGE! I mean, why not?
chances are, knowing DC, there is....
AND YOU CAN READ ABOUT IT IN THE NEXT PRE-REBOOT SAGA!
oh dear god DC, dont do it, please dont.
But yea, with the whole Crisis on Infinite Earths shit, who knows, there could be.
Just like how there could be a DC universe where every character is a child, gay, furries, in highschool, villains being the super heroes, 'superheroes being batman', batman actually having super powers, ect.
The addition of the though of a multiverse allows for very........ confusing characters mash-ups, I mean, remember when Deadpool met Deathstroke?
yea, that was weird.
But for a more recent example, Young Justice [the t.v. series] takes place on Earth-16 of DC'sclusterfuckmultiverse, so you never know!
That would be the point really... I just think a white luke cage would be funny, but not racists because we as white people would give Black people Black Batman. He'll every superhero should just have 4 issues come out, each with hero in a different ethnicity. Everythings the same, just in one world Batman is black. In another he's asian. you get the idea.rhizhim said:because it would remind me of the Blaxploitation eraSaneAmongInsane said:So I was reading up on the DC Universe, and it turns out they have an entire earth were the superheroes genders are swapped and that got me thinking....

Also Spiderman is now hispanic. We've lost White SpidermanKaleion said:I can think of a couple of hispanic heroes, there's the current Blue Beetle, that ninja in the Marvel Universe called Echo, Mas y Menos on the DC Univerese [small](I hate them)[/small], I think there is also maybe a spider girl type character called Araña, and that's about it, kinda weird that I knew that since I don't read comics, I don't know of other races though.Owyn_Merrilin said:I'd imagine transgendered characters (do those even exist in the DC universe?) would just reverse their own gender swap, so someone who was born male but felt female would be the other way around and vice versa, while hermaphrodites would either not change or have the opposite problem (boobs and a penis to a beard with a vagina, and so on), depending on what they had to begin with.Starik20X6 said:Have to agree with this. Race isn't a binary thing... Wait a minute. Now I'm thinking: in the universe where genders are swapped, what happens to transgendered characters? Hermaphrodites?
And I agree; race isn't a binary thing, although to see the race distribution in comics, you could be excused for not realizing it. Seriously, I can name maybe three or four black heroes, no Hispanic or Asian heroes, one Asian villain, one Native American hero (if I'm remembering right) and then everyone else is white. Not a good mix.
No no... if Luke Cage was white he'd still act like a blaxpoitation superhero, just ya know... white.rhizhim said:the blaxploitation era was so damn racist.(every white male is evil and all white chicks are hypocritical sluts)SaneAmongInsane said:That would be the point really... ....actually heres a thought, how do you do Black Joker? Do you give him the same skin deseas as Micheal Jackson or just make it reverse-black face?
I just think the concept of superheros swapping races is funny.
![]()
so you think the superheros would change their behavor according to their skin colour?
so the joker would look like this
![]()
and call batman this dark brother.
and black superman would sometimes have
?
sorry but no. changing some heros skin colour to justify stereotypical behavor would make marvel and dc be on the same level as early disney.
Wait, Spider-Man is now hispanic? Neat.SaneAmongInsane said:Also Spiderman is now hispanic. We've lost White SpidermanKaleion said:-Snip-![]()
That, my friend is where you are wrong...with The Avengers coming out, Marvel saw making Nick Fury black as a good way to make more cash....and so I present you with 616, Marcus Johnson, aka black Nick Fury, aka Nick Fury Jr., aka guy who just happened to get his eye removed a couple issues after his reveal, aka kid that Nick Fury hasn't talked about for 35 years but is really his son, aka guy who's name really is Nick Fury after his father but was changed to Marcus Johnson to "protect his identity", aka Marvel done fucked up this time...Fappy said:Only the Ultimate Universe's Nick Fury is black. Normal Marvel 616 is the old fashioned white Nick Fury still.SaneAmongInsane said:All the more reason. We have Black Nick Fury now, the time is right for White Luke Cage! The world is ready!TheAbominableDan said:Well, Luke Cage is Marvel and the rest of the ones you listed are DC. So such a universe could not exist.
Spiderman 2099 was part Hispanic, atleast I think he was with a name like Miguel O'Hara.Kaleion said:Wait, Spider-Man is now hispanic? Neat.SaneAmongInsane said:Also Spiderman is now hispanic. We've lost White SpidermanKaleion said:-Snip-![]()
I didn't lose anything I'm actually Mexican, so I've got no reason to be upset over that, also Peter Parker was a little annoying to me, so I don't mind the change to Pedro Perez or whatever his name is.
It's suppose to be. the whole idea is just silly nonsense.Altorin said:this is the dumbest thread I've stumbled in to in a long time.
White Luke Cage doesn't work because "blackness" is his most defining characteristic. If you take that away, the guy's basically got nothing.
I'm not saying that's good, but that's how it is.
Now, can we take away his blackness for a couple issues to see how he deals with it? sure? It's probably already been done.
Damn, you stole my Black Panther argument. Quick have to think some more! Magneto! Red Skull! Storm! Thor!maddawg IAJI said:....Except Luke Cage is from Marvel, not DC, making the argument a tad bit lackluster, but basically its because there isn't a polar opposite in race like there is in gender. It would also fuck up a lot of characters (See the Black Panther).SaneAmongInsane said:So I was reading up on the DC Universe, and it turns out they have an entire earth were the superheroes genders are swapped and that got me thinking....

Also, wanting a White Luke Cage seems really stupid in my opinion. The character is famous because he was the first black superhero to have success in his own comic. In a sense, several people consider him to be the character who broke the color barrier of Marvel Comics. The only reason why they changed Nick Fury's skin color is largely because Marvel believed they could get away with it, its not the same situation with Cage.
Oh...yeah, that'd almost certainly suck, but if done well, it could be a hilariously unsubtle way of telling the audience how bad racism is.SaneAmongInsane said:It's suppose to be. the whole idea is just silly nonsense.
....Actually I think thats better. It could be an event where every character is suddenly a different race and their struggles with it... like Batman catching shit from the TSA because he's suddenly arab.
Crisis In Infinite Skin Colors
Oh! Oh! Oh! How about Colossus!? He's Russian! How can you make a black rus- Oh wait, Lenny Kravitz is a Black-Russian, never mind.ThePenguinKnight said:Damn, you stole my Black Panther argument.
