These are the situations Youtube was made for.
Just go check out some of their songs, and see if you like them.

Well... there's the travesty that is the Arctic Monkeys. Despite being from the UK, I dislike them.
Being from the UK and hating the Artic Monkeys while liking Coheed? I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of yourself, sir!

You don't know who Arctic Monkeys, Mute Math and Kings of Leon are?

Point me toward the rock you've been living under.

I hate, hate, The Dave Matthews Band..... seriously they suck. I hate Dave Matthews voice, it sounds like a failed country singer and a tone deaf yoddler fucked and had a mentally challenged child.

OT: Just go to the myspace music section and type all those bands names in the search bar. It has never failed me yet.

Andrew Bird is amazing and Passion Pit are very good, although I've only heard a little of their stuff. As for everything else, I haven't heard anything by them, and Kings of Leon are kind of lame (I hear that Dave Mathews Band suck too).

Here's a link to an Andrew Bird video:

Oh my crapinthepants, how have I NOT heard of Andrew Bird? I'm at a loss for how much I must see this guy (or is that just the name of the band? I'm not sure).

Being in high school when Dave Matthews Band started, I must say that if you've heard much from them in the past few years I can understand why you'd pass, but some of their early stuff was pretty good jazz-rock with a very mellow feel, fun instrumentation for what was esentially popular music and lots of great classic rock influences. I dunno what happened, but they have become pretty meh lately.

So, going to college close to Austin, I am well aware that currently the Austin City Limits music festival is going on less then half an hour away. And yet I sit here, writing this, for one specific reason: I know NONE of the bands there. My college paper had an article which included the entire setlist for the show. I went through every band, and found only two I know/like/heard of: Coheed & Cambria, and Pearl Jam. So, can anyone out there enlighten me on such bands/artists like:

*Kings of Leon
*Andrew Bird
*Phoenix
*Dave Matthews Band
*Ghostland Observatory
*Mute Math
*Arctic Monkeys
*Girl Talk
*Passion Pit

I would greatly appreciate it.
the ones i know of are great. kings of leon are a pretty big rock group, i highly suggest them.

phoenix is a cool indie rock band from paris, saw them live, fuckin awesome

DMB is ok... dave matthews himself is the worst musician in the group i think but others disagree. cool kinda modern jam band, but they are rock. they arent like widespread panic

girltalk, is a dj, he plays stanky leg a lot. not my thing

arctic monkeys are a unique indie band. they are good

PASSION PIT!!!- is my favorite band right now, they are electronic rock, with sweet lyrics. SEE THEM LIVE! they put on the craziest shows, everyone goes crazy.

you might also hear of montreal, they are also very cool

Ugh. Looking at that list, I wouldn't go...even with the promised presence of Coheed.
I'm with this man. Coheed is tempting but..... you're better off not going.
no, these bands rock

Kings of Leon is a weird one.

Like, 7- 8 years ago they looked like they meet Dr. Who in the 70's and hitched to the year 2002. Then they dropped off the radar (at least for me) but they have made few really kickass songs.

Then they cut their hair and started to make shit music.

Phoenix and Artic Monkeys are great though.

EDIT: And Coheed ofc

I've never heard of any of those bands, except Dave Matthews and they were popular when I was in middle school or something.

Kings of Leon are definitely worth seeing.
Dave Matthews Band... they've been going for ages, surprised you haven't heard of them.
Arctic Monkeys are kind of Brit garage rock, I'm not a fan but they're okay I guess.

Don't know the others.

All the replies are pointless because it all boils down to people's opinions, and you might like all the bands people are calling shit.

Nevetheless, I think Arctic Monkeys are alright, and I like Phoenix, even though they're French. But I'd go just for Coheed and Cambria anyway. Plus music festivals are fun whether the bands are good or not.

I love Mute Math. Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon are ok, I wouldn't say they're bad.

Wish I could say the same about the rest of the list.

You like him then? And yes, the awesomeness of Andrew Bird is one man.

EDIT: And scince actually showing music is better than describing it, here's a Passion Pit video.
