Not LPers but most definately underrated.

(Side note, not sure this really qualifies as a gaming discussion, you should probably see if you can get the mods to move it over to off-topic)

Can't get into LPs all that much but I do like watching theRadBrad on occasion. AlphaOmegaSin is also hilarious to watch if you feel like listening to a curse word heavy gaming rant. Oh and Nathan J. Barnatt. Love that guy. He can seriously dance, despite how goofy some of his videos are. None of these are underrated though.

Matthewmatosis is one of the best reviewers out there. I love reviewers who don't post 6 minute, hyper-edited summaries and instead make well thought out long videos.

Here's his Last of Us review:

I absolutely love Archengeia [http://www.youtube.com/user/Archengeia]. He's a video game reviewer (and occasional TV/movie critic) who really dives into games, discussing their strengths, flaws, and histories. While some of his most popular videos have reached tens of thousands of views, the majority tend to not even break the two thousand mark, which is a real shame.

ive got 3 great lper's here:
RoseErifnosi
666theheartless666: hes absolutely hilarious, great British humor
storpey

i'm not sure why people class underacted channel's with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. it seems people only know the big names on youtube, witch is a huge shame.

I've been following The AmeriCanadian Gamer, he has a pretty nice variety of videos types. Daily live commentaries, halo, CoD, Team Fortress 2 and even a full lets play of Pokemon Blue. His Halo weapon guides are probably his most watched.

He provides content often but not enough to spam your feed. Most of the games he plays, I don't play but he still finds a way to make it interesting.

Here is the latest video he made about a weapon in Halo 4.

You are a bad person. I have watched 4 of those videos since you posted this. Shame on you! Shame! I didn't need more distractions!

Only 4? There are like, 26 parts or so in total. It's freaking great. Then there are several other games he has LP'd! I recommend Ib, Mad Father and The Witch's House. MORE DISTRACTIONS! XD

Well, it's 1AM. Probably should go to bed. Or I could go and watch that Corpse Party playthrough again... Yeah. That sounds best.

Depends on what you consider underrated but Rebel Taxi and Coverkiller Nation have less than 20k subs and I find their videos enjoyable. In particular the former I think is a actually covering a niche with (mostly) modern cartoon reviews (among other things) that nobody else is filling; I really dig his sense of humor and his more concise approach to things with most of his videos running at just over 5 minutes. Also, while not exactly unknown at this point I did recently discover Digibrony's videos, so if you're looking for in depth analysis pertaining to a show about implausibly coloured talking equines aimed at female toddlers (and really, aren't we all when it comes down to it?) then he's definitely worth checking out. Seriously, get on that shit.

Oh yeah, I guess Coverkiller would be my choice. For music reviews anyway. I have no interest in his political opinions.

Wha? Oh yeah, he started up that Thought Buffet thing recently didn't he? Yeah, I'm not particularly fussed about that either, I just come for the muzak discussion.

You aren't alone, I also love that guy, when you watch his stuff you can tell that he's really into whatever he's talking about and he goes really in depth, I've played a few really good games that were recommended by him. He's great.

Another Youtuber that I like is Kikoskia. He does LP's of old games and he's very entertaining. He's the only let's player I consistently watch. By far his best LP's are the original X-COM's, King of Dragon Pass and Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance, which I had never even heard of until I saw his LP. I'll provide links because I don't know how to embed videos.

The guy's got less than 10k subs, but he's got a lot of good snark to go with his videos. Supergreatfriend makes me snerk and chuckle as he plays. His main gimmick is playing the demos for the now defunct XBox Live Indie Games and by the gods, I give the guy props for showing off those games.

Here's his latest Demo Friend.

He's also doing a bit of a Demo Friend Let's Play of the latest Aliens game, pointing out everything good/bad about it. Quite hilarious really.

Can you imagine a person so competent and engaging that you watch his game specific videos even though you don't play that game!

The only Youtubers I watch are Totalbiscuit and Angry Joe, and they're hardly underrated.
However, I used to watch an LPer named Chronogear. His LPs are interesting because he tends to do strange games - some I've never even heard of. Chrono himself is pretty cool as well - he's funny and charismatic, yet very chill and isn't nearly as obnoxious as most other LPers. I haven't watched him in a while though because he took a pretty big hiatus and a lot of his more interesting LPs went unfinished. I've noticed that he's active again now - and has even resumed LPs that are over two years old - but I haven't really had the time to catch up
It's funny that someone mentioned Cry above; I discovered Chrono when searching for an LP of Haunting Ground. I found Cry's first, but didn't like it at all because he was far too... animated? For lack of a better word.

Another guy I liked was SilvaGunna. He uploaded a LOT of videogame OSTs from the SNES to the PS2 generation. What I liked about him was that he was incredibly thorough; he would even include the ambient music from splash screens if they were interesting enough. Unfortunately, his account was suspended due to copyright infringement. I don't know if it was ever lifted.

Yep, this guy is really fucking good. His Bioshock: Infinite critique was right on the nose, and his Metal Gear Solid reviews were brilliant. He proves that you can make an entertaining review without resorting to forced humor. *cough* TGWTG.

While we're on the subject of underrated reviews... davidscribe's Cronenberg Critique is another filled with serious analysis and completely lacking bad comedy.

RunButton are the best you can get with let's players in terms of commentary. They have the best chemistry and get along so well which makes the commentary so natural and entertaining. They've played a number of games, but most notably they have played (almost) every Sonic game out there in their 20 Years Of Sonic series

You won't regret watching it.

I approve of this thread! Especially the OPs second choice!

I really like Matt Barton: he's got some great gaming insight and interview content. For his interviews he get's some very interesting guests, he's well worth checking out, that guy should be doing that for a living.
