Well considering both are on the same record label ergo Mr Simon Cowell is still receiving the money I could not care less who gets the number one hit single, but in answer to your question, no I have not purchased their single.

That is something everybody seems to pick up on, but for the intents of the 'rebellion' (or whatever) it doesn't matter. Simon Cowell is not Rage Against The Machine, but he is Joe McElderry. The idea is that number one isn't the generally accepted X Factor winner, not who profits from what.

Although I do understand that and by no way am I picking sides in this, but I do feel sorry for the kid as he is an amazing singer, also cowell isn't Joe McElderry it's Cheryl Cole I think.

I'm against the whole thing. This year it's a protest against the music industry being so commercial. If successful, it won't make the sheep realise the error of their ways, but it will mean that next year it will be an industry backed campaign against the fact that Sony BMG doesn't yet have all the money in the world.

MARK MY WORDS, INTERNET.

I did - Mostly because I don't want to be eating Christmas dinner with my family and hear a whiny 19 year old sing about love.

Plus the Idea of Fearne Cotton interviewing RATM at Christmas...was....fantastic.

If he was good enough he would have made it on his own. And that's just bad luck on him part, but sooner or later people are going to do something about it. Even if it's not this year, I think that next year's Christmas number one will have a distince lack of X.

So, we're all buying a single en masse to get it to number one because someone told us to, because we don't want to buy a single en masse to get it to number one because someone told us to?

As far as I'm concerned they're as bad as each other, in terms of music quality and corporate manipulation, so RatM can fuck right off along with Cowell. How do me know they're not just taking advantage of peoples hatred of X Factor to promote their album, it'd hardly be difficult for an advertiser or even a band member to get a friend to make a short message on their Facebook, after all. And isn't that just as bad as Cowell using the general public's love for X Factor to promote his own stuff?

RatM or X Factor, you're the 'sheep' you hate so much either way.

Edit: In fact, the other day I overheard two kids refer to Cowell as 'the enemy'. Can you really tell me they haven't been brainwashed in exactly the same way RatM supporters are accusing Cowell of doing?

Both of those genres have plenty of talent and very much are real music. And I love RATM, but their philosophies are dated and therefore they aren't good role models. Hell they weren't even good role models in their time.

And can you really put that line up there when you're doing what the Facebook group (or whatever it was) told you, so...
