Who bought the RATM single?

Well, I like the song, I like the cause, and I like the unity (a.k.a. mob mentality, but whatever.) Of course I bought it.
"Fuck you I won't do what you tell me" brings me far more Christian thoughts than the grating whines of "do they know it's Christmas time at all?"

And no, I don't actually really give a shit that its all conformity and paying "The Man" either way. I would've given them the same money by buying the song and/or album at some point anyway.

Well I don't really have a problem with rich people, it's just that I think Simon Cowell is a total **** who regularly gets his karaoke competitions into the national news and embedded in foolish people's thoughts and needs to be told quite conclusively to fuck off.
For example, one of my friends refused to come out on the last night of term because of the X-Factor final. It's everywhere!

You think Cowell is a **** why? It's not like you've ever met the guy...
He doesn't make people vote or watch the X Factor, so how is it he needs to be told to f**k off? For being successful?
It's everywhere, so what, it's success isn't forced upon anyone, if you don't like it, just don't watch it. Unless you want to tell people what they should & shouldn't watch, which seems very ironic considering the RATM single.

I know he doesn't physically go round to people's houses and make them watch the X factor at gunpoint, but the whole thing is littered with repeated urgings to vote because it's 'massively important' and there's a lot of advertising. I just really hate the fact that it's just a freakshow/karaoke competition and I don't think it deserves the amount of hype it gets, nor the millions of pounds of profit or yadayada. Of course, I'm not saying that the way to combat this is to buy the RATM single, I don't really care about the xmas no.1, but I'd really urge people not to buy a Miley Cyrus cover. By some 12 year old.
And you don't need to know someone personally to know they're a ****. I'm certain Nick Griffin is a **** without having had a sitdown and a cup of tea with him.
On a lighter note, I find it amusing you blanked out fuck and not ****. Weird.

Yeah but the number one spot won't be X factor's. Worth it - Cowell thinks X deserves top spot, we just want to prove him wrong

That's all nice but I just think whatever people enjoy should be number one, and if that's the x factor so be it - they shouldn't buy a single because someone told them to on the ironic note of being nonconformist.
You can't really compare Nick Griffin to Simon Cowell. One is a holocaust denying racist, the other, a highly successful business man. He's just blunt with what he says, and very rich - hardly grounds for being considered a dick.

Yeah I agree that buying the RATM single is stupid, but... I don't know, Cowell seems like he's just a very blunt and mean guy, but the way he engineers the whole program, adding in melodrama elements to single parents' auditions; he isn't just harsh, he knows who's going to win from the start and basically sets up the whole series to influence people to get worked up so that they vote and shell out.
Plus the other night he was on newsnight talking about the recession while Tony Blair was on breakfast TV explaining why he wouldn't listen to the people who elected him. How do these things happen?
