so i logged in today and can to lock at forums to find like 6 skyrim threads or more so a question came to mind am i the only person here that did't buy Skyrim cause i know I'm not the only person that doesn't like the elder scrolls games here.
So you are "that one guy" who didn't buy it. Sucks for you, I'm enjoying everything Skyrim has to offer.

I pre-ordered, and I bought a copy for my friend today.

It's currently breaking records on Steam right now, with most concurrent users playing in one day. Nearly 250,000 people. MW3 has about 70k/80k (Single-player and Multi-player respectively) and that's saying something.

I haven't been able to pull up past stats, but a quarter million playing at the same time is a lot of people for PC. A lot of Steam veterans are saying it's the most they've ever seen for one game, not sure if I believe it, but I wouldn't doubt it either.

Lots of people playing this game on PC. I played 16hrs since midnight release. Totally addicted.

(Also, it's not even fully released yet, as this thread attests to. Not all regions have been unlocked/released.)

Not yet, but trust me, I will.

I will get it when I'm done playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations, and, to me, it's more important that I know what happens in that series rather than starting a massive game like Skyrim.

I didn't buy it only because I'm saving for something else right now. It really does look fun though, I'm hoping to get it for Christmas or pick it up when the price has dropped a bit.

I see what you did there!

I was going to wait, but changed my mind but missed my chance to go into town today. So that's why.
Used most of today playing it. This game.. It's.. It's.. just do yourself a favor and buy it as soon as you can!
But of course. I'm breaking my weekend tradition of sleeping until midday so I can buy it as early as possible!
Sleeping? Oh, you can say goodbye to that too!

I didn't buy it, I thought that Oblivion was a pile of crap and so didn't feel that Skyrim was worth the money.

I bought it and have been enjoying it immensely - it's a great blend of all of the things that made previous Elder Scrolls games good, with very little room left for the things that made them bad. Thus far, my only complaint is that they need an on-screen message telling you that TAB is how you close menus. It's a pretty nonstandard keybind and it took me a good ten minutes to figure out how to close the menu on the first damn chest. Might also help to mention that there's a pretty huge help system in the ESC menu (I didn't discover this until about the fourth hour).

I thought I'd give my view on the game since this is otherwise a remarkably silly thread. I wouldn't think anything of it if it weren't for the fact that what prompted the thread wasn't just your personal dislike of the series (which is fine, you're certainly entitled to not like a game series), but your seeing threads involving other people liking it.

Well I didnt buy it even though I loved oblivion, KOF XIII is more appealing to me atm even though I have never played a KOF game before I am strangely excited for this game and since money is real tight KOF it is. Also it is my birthday, I am drunk so I havent read all the comments but Skyrim is on my to get list just not today same with uncharted 3 and disgaea 4 off the top of my head.

how so? do you just not like fantasy rpgs? was it and uncanny valley effect? was it the fact the dwarven swords clearly have no edge? i'd like a valid reason the "it's just crap" line just looks like a troll comment and i tend to find great pleasure in pissing trolls off.

I didn't buy it. And to be honest, I doubt I will.
im along this train of thought
i definitely wouldn't get it on release as a pc gamer due to their horrible run of putting out really buggy games.
Eh, it's not so much that as it is the ES universe. It never really interested me. Playing Oblivion made me think "This is like Fallout... with swords. Man, I wish I had a machine gun". I doubt this will be much different in that regard.
That's exactly how I felt with Fallout. I thought "This is like The Elder Scrolls...with guns. I wish I had a sword and spells".

I picked up my copy 18 hours ago, and haven't stopped playing it since. I feel sorry for gamers who didn't buy it 'out of principle' or wtf-ever reason it is that its 'cool' not to like it.

Unless you're a flagellant, why not just buy the shit? Its quite awesome and well-worth the 60 dollars.

edit: its like Morrowind 2.0, we can all just forget oblivion ever happened! =)

edit 2: i have the PC version and run it on ultra settings. Its like a work of art, honestly.

I'll get it once there is a big Steam sale. Maybe it'll go down to like $30-40. After playing awesome, long, old games on Steam (Borderlands for $5 in a sale! Not exactly old though) for like $10, $60 seems ridiculous to me. I can wait a couple months, play some good cheap games in the meantime

I never buy Bethesda games at launch anymore. Got burned pretty hard with Oblivion, I won't make the same mistake again. Served me well so far, so I'm doing the same for Skyrim. I'm waiting for bugfixes and mods that fix the interface.

Yeah that whole list thing looks like it works well on consoles, but on the PC? Looks like it'll be ass.

Brother's getting it on 360 on Monday though, so I can play and make notes of what mods to download to make my experience better.

I have a lot of other games to play and this will consume my life. Why buy it to not play it? If I wait, it will get patched, the price will go down, and I'll know which of my two systems to buy it for. I doubt I'll wait all the way for a Game of the Year Edition, but maybe.
