I admire Stephen King and Eddie Izzard. And a Swedish mindreader called Henrik Fexeus. And Yann Tiersen for making amazing classical music.
And Lauren Admire. :p

Admire how?

My first instinct is to say Angelina Jolie. But that's more of adoring and borderline obsessive

So when I think of some one I wanna be I think: Brad Pitt.

I admire certain writers, so because of that Stephanie Meyer is officially my worst enemy.

I, personally, admire Nietzsche for his genius just as many other people do as well. However, my real idol is KRS-ONE.
I admire him for many reasons but the overlying reason would be how much he has accomplished and how much he has helped others through doing so.
I mean, He has released 10+ albums (and not a bad one among them), created the stop the violence movement, changed the typical business model for hip-hop music artists through his own BDP productions, created a NEW university level education (a degree in hip-hop), written contracts for hip-hop music artists all over the music industry, created guidelines for Hip-Hop Kulture, created a new method of teaching (edutainment) earned a degree in philosophy, gained a position as professor of metaphysics at trinity college created a history for scientific analysis of the art of rap as well as writing the first instrument of the newly emerging Hip-Hop religion (monotheistic in nature). And that is just the short list. Beyond that his personal philosophy and the way he has taught it to me through music, lectures and books has helped me grow as a person immensely.

Sean Connery for being insanely awesome.

Frank Welker for being one of the all time greatest voice actors, and getting me to take interest in the art.

Steven Spielberg for being a legendary director.

Among others, these are my idols.

I would say Your Mum, but I'm far too mature for that.

So... Terry Pratchett and Jonathan Coulton.

I'm trying to make a list of all the people I admire and it isn't as easy coming up with names as I thought, so I could use your help.

Who do you admire?

You don't have to say why, but a little explanation would be nice =)
Feel free to post lots of people or just one.
I was planning on making this exact thread. Saved me the trouble!
I get tired of but am also guilty of people worshiping celebrity gods and admiring them to an unhealthy degree. Like I say, I'm guilty of it but it got me thinking about who I admire who's affected my life directly

Anyways, I admire my dad soooo much. He went from being a carpenter driving a white van to being a sales rep who drives a Jaguar and wears a suit. I admire him so much for that
I also admire my high school english teacher. He really made literature come alive and he's the reason why I'm doing a degree in theatre and planning on becoming an english teacher myself

In the celebrity world I admire Davey Havok of AFI for being an incredible frontman and for being a proud straight edge icon
I also admire Philip Pullman for writing the most inspirational novels I've ever read and actually changed my view of the world and my own life

~Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who I some day hope to have the honor of being a tenth as good at bass as.

~Mikhail Bakunin, Piotr Kropotkin, Henry David Thoreau, and Alex Comfort, my four sociopolitical idols for their courageous espousal of anarcho-syndicalism and anarcho-pacifism as valid ideological concepts.

~Howard Zinn, for being bar none the best American historian in the history of ever.

~Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, Terry Pratchett, and J.R.R. Tolkien, for introducing me to the concept of escapism.

Batman.

I'm awesome to the point that to admire Batman is the only way I won't look down.
