Not sure if you're being serious or not. Nic Cage is basically a poor man's Tom Cruise, all he does is run around and have freakouts.NestorES said:I am surprised that Nicholas Cage has not had a mention yet...

This thread is about the best actors, could be why...NestorES said:I am surprised that Nicholas Cage has not had a mention yet...
If you'd add the word "looking" or "dressed" between best and actor to the thread topic...Signa said:I'm going to go with Ed Norton. I've had discussions about this before. Anyone notice how few female actors top anyone's choices?
how could you miss out kalifornia?! he's incredible in that.SpAc3man said:I have always felt Brad Pitt is often overlooked. Sure he has been in some terrible films but when given room to shine he is amazing. Fight Club, Sev7en, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Burn After Reading, Inglourious Basterds, 12 Monkeys. All with Brad Pitt being a great actor.
...plus he's the best bugger on the West Coast...Sixcess said:I have mixed feelings about the OP's choice of Tom Cruise. On the one hand he's made a lot of films that I really like - Eyes Wide Shut, Interview with the Vampire, Collateral, Valkyrie... and on the other hand he makes a lot of movies where he essentially does the same shallow thing he's been doing ever since Top Gun and Risky Business.
My personal pick would be Gene Hackman. From serious drama like Mississipi Burning, French Connection and Unforgiven to stylised action like The Quick and the Dead to comedy like The Birdcage. - I've never seen him give a bad performance.
And he's the definitive Lex Luthor.
You have to include the entire cast of that film in a list of the greats, including Alec "Coffee is for closers only" Baldwin.Matt-Sama said:snip
Jack Lemmon could be considered one of the greats just for his performance in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Yes, Gary Oldman is by far the best actor ever. He stole Léon: The Professional despite having about ten minutes of screen time and he nailed the part of George Smiley in Tinker Taylor Solider Spy. Hell he even kicked ass in CoD: World at War.Remus said:Gary Oldman. He is a chameleon. From playing both old and young Dracula, to Jean-Baptise Emanuel Zorg, Sirius Black, Commissioner Gordon, and Lee Harvey Oswald, he never looks the same in any role he's ever played.
It's an unfortunate but realistic fact of modern Hollywood. With the majority of leading roles being for men, the best actors tend to men. They get the most exposure, and are driven to be the best actors possible. Notice that there have also hardly been any non-white actors mentioned in this thread.Signa said:I'm going to go with Ed Norton. I've had discussions about this before.
