You're never the only one, but you're in a very small minority.

Anywho I loved Portal 2 if that wasn't obvious. Finished it yesterday, the whole game was excellent and at the quality I expected it to be. Also it had possibly the best ending on a game in at least the past 5 years or so.

I don't know if I'll ever play coop through the whole way, though. I really hate relying on other people to enjoy a game. Played 15 minutes of it earlier with a friend and I was already sick of it... all I kept thinking was "I really wish I could play this on my own."

P2 has more room and tools but doesn't use their full potential to make the game more difficult. the few times that I got stuck were when I was over-thinking the puzzle and the solution was much simpler. [edit] also, the final bossfight was quite underwhelming

I did like that the game was longer than P1 (which had an achievement to beat the game in under an hour) and there were significant advances in the plot without sacrificing the comedy that P1 was known for.

for me, Portal 2 was good but not great, perhaps overrated a bit. I have yet to play co-op though and look forward to it.

I like the game a fair bit, but what I'm really waiting for is for the multiplayer to get expanded on. One co-op campaign doesn't suffice, thank you very much :3

You won't find many Portal non-fanboys here. Well you did find one. Hello how are you today?

I decided to play portal 1 and read the comic before playing the second game, so I could kind of live the whole Portal experience. I just finished the singleplayer campaign in 2, and I must say I can't see where the difficulty got nerfed. The settings were REALLY big and I sometimes got genuinely stuck in places, struggling to know what the solution could be. I only remember that happening to me in the first game a couple of times, but I'm almost certain Portal 2 got me more times than the original one. Dialogue was brilliant and extensive, the ending is really cool, it was REALLY lengthy for the 40? price tag and I've just played a couple of co-op maps with really awesome results.

I didn't hear much of the Portal 2 hype. Just steered away from it, I wasn't sure whether I'd ever pick it up, but when I saw the reduced price told me "why not?" and got it. I certainly haven't been disappointed by it, and I'd almost say it's really better than the first game in everything.

This game was definitely more about story and humor than puzzle cleverness, at least compared to the sheer number of cool new mechanics they introduced. At least one puzzle where you literally use every single tool they handed you during the game would have been nice, though now that I think about it, it would be darn hard to make a puzzle like that without there being about 30 possible solutions.

I get the suspicion that, like every other game in the universe anymore, they sunk all the real fun into the multiplayer mode ? as in, all the best puzzles are in the co-op. Haven't touched it myself, yet; I'm waiting for tomorrow when my cousin and I will be able to play it together.

EDIT: That isn't to say the single-player wasn't plenty challenging at times; it just didn't feel big enough, if that makes sense.

Did anyone else think the "defective" turrets sounded a lot like Vic from Red vs Blue? Once I realized that, it made it even funnier for me :D

Also, did anyone else picture Jameson sitting at his desk barking orders whenever Cave Johnson's voice popped up?

Anyway, it may seem like the puzzles were easier, but that may be just because the game is no longer an original concept, so you are used to how these puzzles work now. Personally, I found a few of the puzzles considerably more devious than in the first game, but maybe I've just become dumber since 2007. It's entirely possible.

I liked it, and I seriously couldn't care less about Portal. I thought that I might pick it up at one of Steam's midweek madness sales, or Christmas sales or something. Then I got it as a gift from my friend through Steam. I LOVED IT!

The puzzle difficulty is non-linear. It has to throw an easy puzzle or two at your for every new element added so less game savvy people stand a chance. Overall the puzzles do get harder. People claim the puzzles require less "ninja skills" than the Portal 1 puzzles did, which is true. However this is not true to an extent that makes the Portal 2 puzzles easier. They really didn't require twitch aiming skills.

The puzzles were fun, the humor was amazing, the voice acting was spectacular and the story was good. I got a solid 12 hours of play out of one run through of the single player and multiplayer, and I plan to replay the single player for the achievements.

Solid 9.5 -> 10 / 10 from me. Only annoyance I found was the amount loading screens. If that's your game's biggest fault I believe you've done some good.
And even then, the loading screens themselves were entertaining, such as:-

The Aperture Laboratories logo changing when you go through all the different levels, and then you see the fantastic 'Wheatley Laboratories' logo for the last act'

You know, everyone keeps complaining about the puzzles being easy, but the puzzles in Portal 1 weren't very hard either. Not to mention now you have the benefit of knowing the mechanics from Portal 1, so there isn't that learning curve.

It's probably my new favorite game. Portal 1 was good but this was just an experience that I enjoyed more than any previous one that I can think of. Solving puzzles was rewarding, the characters were amazingly voiced and appropriately hilarious, and I believe it has one of the best video game endings to date.

You're not the only one but I strongly disagree with you. No harm in that.

i found portal 2 a shining example of how games should be, with interesting and innovative gameplay, a strong story and characters (SO much games seem to forget this), and a brilliant setting.

so i respect your point, but i don't agree with it
