I used to plan on getting it day one. Then I started on my financial statements...I can't take out another loan, I just can't.

So, yeah, it looks like I'll be waiting for a little while.

The only thing dissuading me is that I just got Dark Souls last week so it'd seem like I'd be wasting time/money by getting it.
Then again, it's fucking Skyrim.

It's nice to know that someone else isn't buying skyrim right out of the gates. Even if for a different reason.

Soooo I have been looking forward to the release of Skyrim since it was first announced but i am also currently In the middle of a very harsh semester at school. So to insure I don't fail half my classes in the last stretch I'm am making a personal decision to abstain from buying Skyrim for at least another month. I'm just curious if anyone else is being forced to make this tragically beneficial decision for whatever reason.
I'm with ya, brother. I have a least three reasons why I'll be putting it off.

1) I never buy new games. I can buy it cheaper and patched in a few months. Less money, better game, is the way I see it. This policy is directly related to post 2

2) I have a back log of at least ten games that I have to finish/start playing. Which, funnly enough, is in part because of point 3

3) I'm currently half way though my pc upgrade. I'm now rocking the quad core and an Asus MoBo, but because they cost me ?250, I have to make do with the on-board ATI 300 that in on the MoBo and 2gigs of DDR3 ram. I'm almost set to upgrade, MSI GTX570 and 8gig of DDR3, but it will be at the lest, two weeks until that is done.

So, don't sweat it, bro, Skyrim will be there, patched and cheap.

I was never going to buy it anyway. Never played any ES game other than Oblivion which did not interest me much so I Skyrim isn't exactly on my top 5 list. However, with all the improvements to Oblivion I think I may just skip oblivion and just buy Skyrim GOTY.

I'm not.

Because A) I'm poor as balls and can't afford it.

And B) After Oblivion I've learned to never buy a Bethesda game new again. Oblivion was a poorly optimized, shallow mess of a game. Oblivion was built off of Morrowind's engine, Skyrim is being built off Oblivion's engine... yeah, I see a pattern forming. Perhaps it's a coincidence, perhaps not, but I'm not taking that chance again. Oblivion was a mess, and it's system requirements were a damn, dirty lie. I'll wait to see if Skyrim is actually optimized and stable before I buy it.

It worked with Fallout 3 and New Vegas(yes I know it's an Obsidian game, it's built on the same engine and just serves as more reason to wait a while before buying), and I expect the same with Skyrim. I'll wait to see if it's stable or not, and if not I'll wait for mods to make it stable.

I'm getting it on release, but I can't fault anyone for waiting. Bethesda games are among the buggiest major releases at launch (they and Obsidian are equals in this area).

I am for a simple reason...no decent pre-order incentives.

I will buy the game, but for now I'm putting my money towards games that reward me for pre-orders or new purchases. This means I can either wait for a price drop on the product or pick it up at full price when I'm bored of all the other new games hitting the market.

I'm putting it off only because I have too many bills at the moment I have to keep up on, plus I'm saving up for a trip to the UK to be with my beloved. :)

I'll probably put it off for at least a month, but it'll depend how I'm going financially. My exams don't finish until the 29th, and then I'm going on two trips with my girlfriend in January and February but my income is dismally low, so I need to save as much as possible...

I Pre-ordered. While Fallout 3 was brilliant, it never gripped me as much as Morrowind did. Oblivion was terrific, but lost a little of the magic. Skyrim looks to bring that back in a big way. Plus, ya' know, Dragons.

Actually, Skyrim is being built off of a dervivative of the GameBryo engine - which powered the previous titles - called the Creation Engine. The better optimisation at a code level allows them to do all the neat visual stuff you see in Skryim, including more NPCs on screen at once and a vastly improved draw distance.

The moment-to-moment bugs usually come down to a poorly coded features. The physics in Oblivion, for example, were shoe-horned into the engine and were actually responsible for a massive amount of the bugs and glitches.
Broken Quests, however, are the result of simply poor development - hopefully Bethesda have learnt from Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. Being as Fallout 3 was much better of than Oblivion was out of the box, I believe Skyrim will be damn near stable.

I've spent the last 6 weeks studying for the GRE. I got Arkham City at launch and gave my copy to a friend to keep me from playing it until after my test tomorrow. I will be playing Skyrim all day, if I don't work.

I didn't plan on getting it anyway. I have a different problem though. Assassin's Creed and UMVC3 on the same night. The 15th is gonna be a BUSY night for me.

I'm far more interested in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning myself. Just looks waaaaay more fun to me.

Getting it sometime next year if it doesn't turn out to be a crappy console port.
Uhh...correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Skyrim developed for consoles?

Oh wait. [http://planetelderscrolls.ign.com/articles/news/7986/Skyrim-to-be-developed-for-consoles-ported-to-pc]
Yeah, this confirms my fears. It's also only 6GB.
