I was ready to hate this game when I first saw it but it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would be. It still seems to be using the awful handling model from Hot Pursuit, but tweaked to be slightly better. Still, I'm not enthused about the game. Criterion clearly want to make Burnout instead of NFS and that's what people are asking them to do too. They should just do that.

That series died when Shift 2 came out.
Shift 2 wasn't that bad. It was somewhat enjoyable. I say the series died around ProStreet. There have been a few splutters of hope more recently but nothing that would come close to constituting a return to form.

I HAVE NO FRIENDS WHO EVEN LIKE NFS, AND SO THE AUTOLOG SCREEN TELLS ME "GET FRIENDS". WHAT A BASTARD.
Don't really care one way or another, I just found that really funny.

I have 2 racing games. Burnout Paradise (because its freaking AMAZING) and NFS Hot Pursuit (which I got cuz my 2 friends got, and honestly I haven't played that much of it, maybe like, 3 games, but I really like the cops/criminal mode, its quite addicting and fun)

I mean, I like racing games, sometimes kart racing with friends is nice, but I feel its a genre you really only need a couple games from. Buying too many racing games seems like a waste of money unless you're a die-hard fan.

So I've got my 2, I don't see why I need anymore.

Name the last NFS title that was worth picking over Forza, Midnight Club LA or Dirt.
None. I didn't say it was good, just that it was enjoyable.

To be honest Critereons latest offerings have been better than Black Box. I can't wait to pick up Most Wanted as I loved the handling of the cars in Hot Pursuit and I have some awesome memories of Most wanted on PS2.

I do wish we could Customize though, because I like cars and have a slightly creative side.

Burnout 3 was fantastic, I'm not denying that. Criterion knows how to make a Burnout game, and they should be commended for them.

Unfortunately, they don't know how to make an NFS game. Black Box was once really, REALLY good at making NFS Games, but something happened when they got to Carbon (which I still hold is an expansion pack). My money says they fired some of the more creative types.

The E3 demo was a combination of the old, good NFS gameplay, with significantly tighter controls than the last however many games, and Burnout Paradise. Both of these halves have been refined to a speartip.

Seriously, it looks really, really good. Criterion knows what it's doing and it's a barrel of fun.

I enjoyed NFS: Hot Pursuit that Criterion also did (the link mentioned above conveniently forgets that game), and they say Most Wanted is more like Burnout Paradise which I LOVED, so it can only be a good thing.

I didn't forget it. I own Burnout: Hot Pursuit, and I hate it. I'd rather play ProStreet than Burnout: Hot Pursuit. It's not even the slightest bit faithful to the original games.

EDIT: Yes, I wrote that. Burnout: Most Wanted turned me off watching the rest of E3, in case they try release any more depressing crap.

Well.... the recent hot pursuit was the first in a long time where i enjoyed a NFS game, since the last two hot pursuits i guess. Didnt like most wanted, too floaty. But then the recent hot pursuit was a bit too unresponsive. Hopefully they will fix that.

It looking like burnout is a good thing i think. Every game should try to be a little more like burnout :p

As for this "critique" link. Most of it is based on supposition, so its a bit silly. Also, why the pop at the british police? Weird.

That's your opinion, and now I see why you think that, but Most Wanted was my favourite game of the series, and I feel that this is a complete disrespect to the original. I get very defensive over things I like.

Only Burnout games should be like Burnout games. NFS is a completely different series which should feel, look and play differently.

They've given us all I need. If they wanted me to like the game, they would have made a trailer which reflected good qualities, but instead I feel like they've made a Modern Warfare 3 of the racing world.

To support my argument. British racers and cops are completely unsuited to this kind of game.

Fair enough man, it does look quite different to the past "tuner" type games. I never really got into that kind of thing, so its not such a big loss for me :)

Some customization would be nice though...
