I'm in the mood to battle some strangers on the internet (not random match-ups because Nintendo doesn't let you talk to people and there's no hope of ever having a rematch with any of those people).

I'm no pro at this game, but I think I have a pretty decent team. I don't care all that much about any tournament rules; but if you guys want to go by the Smogon OU ruleset , I'd be kind enough to switch my garchomp out for another guy.

I'll be using Pokemon White

friend code:
3181-5950-1451

COME AT ME ESCAPISTS!!!

oh and I also like trading : 3

Edit: I am doing flat battles that means that all pokemon are adjusted to level 50 (I'm too lazy to train my guys to level 100), and certain legendaries are barred from entry

If I still had my copy of Black, I'd so totally own you! :p

However I traded it in after replaying it about 5 times and getting bored. It was my most replayed Pokemon game, because the story was actually half-decent. Aaaaaand now I want to play it again dammit... :(

Also, I hate random matches. There are way too many hardcore Pokefans out there. :/ I've never been into EV training and creating the perfect team. I play games to have fun, not to pour over spreadsheets and memorize formulas while tearing my hair out because I can't seem to get the nature I need.

Yea Yahtzee put it pretty well when he said this game was designed for mad people. I enjoy the whole collecting/breeding/team-building aspects of the game myself, but it's definitely not for everyone.

But yea, it's a shame you returned your game already.

I'd like to, however I have terrible internet and cannot for the life of me find my copy of white. I would however like to know your opinion as a competitive battler on:
Weather teams
Stall teams (my favourite)
Best tier
and of course your fave pokemon.

Mine is Milotic.

I wouldn't call myself a competitive battler, I'm kind of an amateur really lol.

Weather teams are alright, but sort of force you to use a small group of types and reduces your type coverage pretty drastically I find. Weather can be pretty abusable, but you have to build your entire team around it and I find it just limits your options. Weather teams do kick my ass all the time though >...>

Stallers are always fun, but I tend to prefer sweeping. I do have a pretty annoying shuckle that I like to annoy people with (Max IVs in def sp.def and HP, EVs are 252 HP, 130 def, 126 sp.def and impish nature with rest, protect, toxic and swagger). I've won a few matches because of that litle guy x D.

As for tiers, I usually play by OU, but I'm not all that concerned with any official rule sets (I just tend not to use legendaries).

And my favourite pokemon is Alakazam, the original glass canon of first-gen : D

Makes sense, my big problem with weather teams was how dominant they are, simply because even though there are obvious ways to counter them you can't get rid of the weather itself. It's a huge buff to the opponent's team and it's permanent unless you have an opposing weather team. Plus hail really got the short end of the stick.

I usually run stall/phaze teams mostly because I play UU/RU. both the tiers are slower paced that OU I find, and setting up 3 spikes and rocks then having a rough skin + rocky helmet Druddigon with max attack dragon tail is pretty rage inducing. Plus I've substituted foul play/nightshade for knock off, knock off Sableye is an amazing Eviolie Dusclops counter.

Also I pokesav my pokemon, which I know people get into heated discussions whether it is fair or not. I decided to avoid those I only play with people who know I do and have arranged a match with me, that way people who are playing normally don't end up outclassed.

Well I just recently got backing in to the game after a long break from the series. I have to wait for my copy to come in the mail though. So id play you in the future lol. I do agree that there are to many that take the battles a little to seriously.

Pokesav is a program on pc that is used in conjunction with your ds save file to essentially generate pokemon instantly. Many people who play denounce this as cheating even though the stats of the pokemon generated are legitimately obtainable in the game without pokesav. It's essentially a shortcut for competitive battlers that some people frown upon, but realistically it's a timesaver and should be used as nothing more.

Oh you mean RNG abuse then?

I don't like it much personally, it sort of devalues breeding a lot, which is a part of the game I enjoy a lot.

Yeah, I never really liked breeding and battling really is the meat of the game so I usually use it, it's also why I only play arranged matches so breeders don't end up complaining about fighting the team with perfect IVs.

Damn, I'd love to. Wanting to try out my new-ish team of no particular theme. However, my router type does not allow me to connect my DS to the internet :(

Sure I don't mind giving you a battle, I'll have to dig out my White game (my better save file) and I'll post my friend code here. Chances are I'll be around 7pm GMT if thats any good...
