I will let this picture speak for itself:

You. Your system. I must see Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance run 10 players (or rather, 9 AIs. No way we'd be able to get 10 systems that powerful together) with blackops unit mods and 10,000 units each on an 81x81km map. you have 12 processing threads to the game's 17. You might be able to do it (sorry about the quick edit, I totally thought you had 2 of those at first glance).

White Corsair Case with White LED's
OCZ ZX 850 Gold Rated PSU
Intel Core i7 2700K 3.50GHz Sandybridge that is overclocked to 4.80GHz
Asus Maximus IV Extreme -Z Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
H2 Flo Extreme Cooler
16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 Dual Channel Kit
1TB HDD
64GB SSD
2x Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards on SLI
USB3, SATA 6GB/s, Intel Ethernet

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Eight-Core Desktop Processor
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GXM

mobo: ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Screen: 42" sony LED tv running 1080p at 60Hz (sadly)
Keyboard: Logitech K800 (i got it for the wireless and back-lighting)
Mouse: currently using a logitech M510 but im getting a Logitech G700 in the mail in the next day or so
Headphones: Tritton AX Pro 5.1 surround dolby digital headphones so i can use them on my ps3, 360, and my pc
case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel , SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

like i said, this is my first build so im not 100% if it is beastly or just "meh" (although my friends keep saying they might kill me at the next lan party for it). im looking to get a new fan because the stock one is too loud and then maybe a SSD to put my games and OS on but after that i dont know what else it needs. anybody have any suggestions?

That's pretty much it. Entire system uses about 340W's of power and cost about £700 (~$1100).
GPU games at 30-40 degrees celsius and CPU isn't much higher, and I can play all the latest games maxed at 60-120fps. Only 2 games I can't play maxed out and get more than 30fps and that's Crysis 1 and Metro. I play at 720p resolution.

Here's a video I recorded on Planetside 2, to give you an idea of performance whilst recording a badly optimised game:

OS: Windows 7
CPU: I5 3450 3,1ghz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660 ti oc
Screen: 24" BenQ GL2450
Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X4
Mouse: Logitech G400
Headphones/Speakers: Senheiser HD 558

Pretty much everything is brand new. I only very recently switched over to full time PC gaming. Nothing to exactly brag about, but it lets me play pretty much anything on max settings so I´m happy.

Fortunately, I happen to have a nice little list of my hardware.

There's an SSD in there too, but I mostly have to save it for work stuff.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread. I'm currently typing this on a machine that sounds like it is having an asthma attack.

I'm depressed now.

After seeing some of the machines on here, I know that feeling, bro.

Yeah they don't seem to be well known but they make very good cards and exceptional cooling systems. I've yet to see my 570 rise above 65 degrees Celsius even on the most demanding games.

Best throughput achieved while gaming; Crysis 2 maxed, 1080p with 4x FSAA, bitches!
Need to get crysis 3...

This thing tears through encoding videos like lightning with a CUDA-enabled program, too!
