A friend of the family who I didn't like so much had a room that was a caravan, and inside it he had a television with Sonic the Hedgehog playing. I was a preschooler at the time, I believe.

That was the first game I ever played, and soon also the first that I owned. Been gaming regularly ever since, for 17 years.

My Dad introduced me to gaming with Doom 2 and Command and Conquer Red Alert. Both of these games are my all time favourite games because of this.

My dad was a programmer and into game design. I can't remember him playing games that often, but he's still the one who introduced me to computer gaming.

The first time I went to camp someone in my cabin introduced us all P&P role playing.

My parents were not gamers but always bought gaming consoles for my brother and I. It took us for ever to talk them into spending the money on the first PC though.

I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to say "My mom got me hooked on gaming playing Baldur's Gate II when I was little. She had to build me a PC and get me a Microsoft Easyball before I was 2 so she could have some peace while she played." >.<

That would be my cousins, they had an N64 and I played with them. First really violent game I played was Mortal Kombat 4, first fatality I saw was scorpion turning into a giant scorpion and ripping people in half followed by Liu Kang turning into a dragon and eating people; it was awesome.

My parents. They bought a Sega Genesis, and I was playing it as far back as I can remember. Then I remember when we got our first PC when I was three years old. I played Doom with my dad.

Good times. :)

When my father was going through Kemo, he bought LoZ: OoT. I watched him play for hours. That's when I got exposed to gaming.

Oh, and my father is fine now. He has been for over 10 years. So that's good.

my dad. when i was really young (4 or 5) i'd sit on his lap, and we would play dark forces together (he'd move around and do everything, i'd just shoot) then we started a similar thing with the game descent, and went from there. then when i was a bit older, he bought me my first console (playstation 1), and i grew as a gamer by myself from there on in

My brother, who showed me the frustrationfest of Sonic.

My parents don't game; my mom doesn't because she doesn't quite grasp the concepts (this is a controller, mom, you use it to control the game...) and my dad doesn't because he never wants to learn a game.

My Parents with an NES played it when I was young, it was then reinforced by friends and I eventually made a friend who locked me into gaming. My parents hate how much I play now, they were never gamers they just played the NES, I am so happy they had one

I believe I asked for a GameBoy color or Dreamcast when I was younger at one point. So yeah those are my gaming roots.

the Genesis.

But my true introduction to gaming was Grandia.

Loved RPGs ever since.

Something cool about turn based combat to me.

When I was 4 or so, I'd go over to my brothers house and one day he had a Genesis, we played Mortal Kombat together (I believe it had just been released), and I thought it was amazing.

That christmas I asked my parents for a Genesis, I got it, plus Mortal Kombat and "that game with the blue Dog on front". I've enjoyed it ever since. However, until I was 12 gaming was only a hobby for me, something I did on occasion or on birthdays/christmas when something new came my way. My 12th Christmas I got a new PC, Baldur's Gate 2, System Shock and Planescape: Torment (those were all of my presents). Gaming turned into a real passion for me right around there, as you can imagine :)

Also, 1000th post. Not a bad choice.

I don't remember, but my earliest gaming memory is with my Nan, playing the SNES (there was a mario game with Yoshi (I think it was Yoshi's island 3 or something), and some game where you play a caveman and fight dinosaurs and stuff).

I have no idea about PC gaming. That always seemed like a constant. I do remember my Granddad showing my Tomb Raider: 2 which I played for a a while and had nightmares about the tigers.

I do remember getting my playstation one, along with doom and FF:VII (which I sucked at) from my mums friend. He was staying with his Girlfriend in our chalet, and I acted cold to get them to let me in and watch him play FF:VII.

Nostalgia feels goood.
