I ask because a tweet of his was RT'd by Adam Baldwin saying that pacifism is cowardly (in so many words). I replied to him saying that it's a noble thing to do, and I recently got a reply going as '@CaptainPancake_ thinks pacifism is "the most noble thing to do." He's from Scotland. But don't worry - Scotland still produces men.'

Now I'm not American, so I don't know if other Americans are meant to know who he is, and if so is he generally a jackass? It would make me feel better knowing this.

I don't know what he means by "Scotland still produces men". Is he implying that you are not a man? As a Scot, I shall take offense.

And yes, he's probably just a wanker.

update: This is going back and forth a little now. Here's his reply to me saying 'I see what you did there, a joke at the expense of my manhood, very clever.'

'@CaptainPancake_ You're wrong! It's not a joke! I'm flat-out calling you a pussy who whines & poses instead of fighting to protect the weak.'

Hold the boat, I only voiced my opinion.

Congratulations, you're in a fight with a civil trial lawyer!
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1440&bih=785&q=Kurt+Schlichter&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

I googled him quickly, here's links to his stuff if you wanna look him up.

So, he's a lawyer who looks to be in his thirties and he's acting like a teenage douchebag to a 17 year old. Geez, what a credit he is to his profession(!) Wonder what he must be like in a court?

Ok...maybe its just me..but a little context would help.

What is happening? Why is Adam Baldwin involved with you and a lawyer and how did Scotland get into this?

Sounds like a porn plot gone horribly awry!

i don't have twitter but this inspired me to go and look and I found his twitter feed. I feel so sorry for you. You voiced a perfectly reasonable and we held idea (I also believe in pacifism in most situations)and all these Americans (I assume) are attempting to rip the shit out of you. I suppose that's the internet after all though :(

Maybe best just to give up and walk away knowing you're at least the better person.

Hehe, I see where you might get confused. Adam Baldwin tweets about politics and retweets alot of things, and this Kurt Schlichter posted his trolltastic tweet. I responded with my own opinion (to Kurt and not Adam) and now the shit has hit about 10 different fans.

A fellow Scot and Scott Pilgrim fan? This bodes well.

OT: This guys a lawyer? Send this to a local news team or something?

I thought there was some irony in that he talked of protecting the weak but was attacking me vehemently. Funny, I was having a good day until this.

Ah, that's clearer now!

The only thing that hasn't changed is why a "professional" like Mr. Schlichter is behaving like a child on the internet as opposed to holding himself in a professional manner that both his age and his profession expects of him. Whatever happened to debate? Why question the others manhood? Clearly you are dealing with an overgrown manchild with insecurities, so its probably best to walk away slowly...

Personally it would take more than some trolling lawyer twit to affect me in any way. Do you ever think he is trying to prove you are not a pacifist by goading you into an outburst? You could also be his evenings entertainment. It is a losing battle either way... Enjoy.
Oh and now when he Googles his name he can see your post here too. Woo boy, he wins.
Sorry, I have a strange way of seeing things sometimes.

OP:

I used to be a pacifist, then changed as I got older, beleiving that there are times to stand up for others, and for thy self. I respect your position, but had to share mine. Ignore the douchbag, but fight those who inflict harm--my position, anyways.

Jeezebelinhell: First, awesome name. Poe, perhaps? Second, that could be what he's doing

That guy is the worst. If I remember correctly, the escapist had an article with a link to his blog. I can't remember what it was about (I think he found some movie offensive or something) and it was absurd. He's a dinkleberry.

Now I think about it I think I got caught in a loop started by an escapist article that eventually led me there.

Well, if he showed up at the last Weekly America Meeting, his name should be on the sign-in sheet, so let me just look it up. Let's see...."S", that's page....54,892. OK, this may take a while.

Weird, I didn't see you there..... It was a good one though, in case you did indeed miss it. The focus was on selling Wisconsin to Canada for an elk, two beers, and some licorice. However, we would still handle all their cheese affairs.

Firstly, I was trying my best not to rise to his bait. Secondly, I never said I was a pacifist, I just think it's the noblest course of action (if not always the most practical). I took offence to him calling pacifists cowards though, that was my beef.
