Greatest Jedi is Yoda while the greatest Sith was Exar Kun if I remember correctly.

You won't find the greatest in the movies. You need to read the books for some awesome characters.

I was thinking that. Well, there was a reference to the greatest Sith in Episode III, Plagueis(?). The greatest are in games or books.

Here's a list of the movie characters' midichlorian counts: http://starwarsuniverse2.tripod.com/id9.html

The more midichlorians you have, the more control you have over the force. As you can see, the sith tend to have higher levels than most jedi. I believe it had been decided that the dark side of the force was more powerful, but they fail because of their lack of morals and loyalty. Sidious overthrew Plagous prior to the movies, then he allowed Maul to die and had Tyrannous executed, then Vader overthrew Sidious. So they were more powerful, but they were their own worst enemies.

The question is what makes the "greatest" Sith?
According to the Sith it is whoever can maintain control of everything the longest, while exerting as much controlled destructive wrath as physically and mentally possible.

In my opinion, the greatest Jedi was Luke. It's not until "Return of the Jedi" that you get to see him as a capable fighter, and even then, it's only a glimmer of his true potential. Throughout the books, he grows stronger and more knowledgeable still, incorporating the lost techniques of the Old Jedi Order with the unique style he created himself to be used by the New Jedi Order.

The greatest Sith, in my opinion, was Darth Vader before his defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan. He was one of those rare beings born with a massive amount of potential, like a beacon in the Force. He started a bit late, yet took to his training like a fish to water, and learned faster than most. When he fell to the Dark Side, he was able to exterminate multiple Jedi Knights at once with great ease, and when the time came to fight Obi-Wan, he was able to overpower his old master and send him on the run at multiple points throughout the fight. His downfall was his arrogance; if he had accepted that Obi-Wan had, indeed, secured the advantageous position, he could have won the battle through other means.

Wouldn't that be that pansy Sidious then?

Like Sidious, but much more pain, suffering, and openness. He was kind of a pussy, because he didn't want to get caught. If he was able to beat Yoda in a fight, he should've come out in Episode 1 and killed him and the other Jedi.

Yes, but he wouldn't have been in a place of power to be the emperor and it would have taken much more effort. I still don't think he is the greatest sith (even though he can cheat death). I still vote for Exar Kun.
