I'd actually have to go with Mario on this one.
Let's look at the facts:
-He's been chasing poontang for over 20 years now.
-He breaks bricks with his fist.
-He kills things by stomping them, punching them or throwing balls of fire from his hands.
-He has a blue collar job.
-Despite his small stature, he can lift things four times his size, including spinning giant lizards around by the tail.
-Staying power.
-He just IS. He's not overcompensating like so many alleged "manly" characters these days who are given ultra-gravelly voices to sound dark and edgy.
I'd also argue that Link is pretty damn manly. He's basically a man being reincarnated again and again with the sole purpose of stopping a penultimate evil from taking over the world. How do you get any more manly than that?
Plus he had like eight women in Ocarina of Time who wanted him like all hell, even women of other species.
Duke Nukem is also up there, but only because he's satirical to start with and certainly not compensating for anything. Lo Wang is also quite manly.
