Hmm... I actually had quite a few I was fond of.

It's been a long time since I played the original, and I didn't really play it that much so I don't remember if I had a favorite... probably Pikachu or Mario

In Melee I would play as a bunch of characters, I'm having a hard time remembering exactly which ones though. I remember Pikachu, Mario, Captain Falcon... I just played with whoever seemed the most fun at the moment actually.

Edit: In Brawl My favorites are King DeDeDe, Captain Falcon, and Ike.

I try to mix it up a little and play a bit as every character though, and I enjoy playing with a bunch of characters, so I'm good with pretty much all of them; these are just the ones I enjoy playing with the most.

On Wii I prefer Starfox or Pit. I'm not very good with anyone else tbh

In Melee I usually rolled with Marth and Mario, but in Brawl they replaced the latter's awesome down-b with some useless water pistol. So in Brawl my mains were either Luigi or Marth.
The watergun is great for edge-guarding, as it doesn't allow them to recover and make more jumps, it simply pushes.

Melee being pretty much the only SSB game I played frequently, my pick was usually Kirby.

Call it cheap and annoying, but few things are quite as satisfying as seeing your friend's face after sucking them up and committing a suicide jump with them still in your mouth. Extra points if it was their last life.
Don't you mean sucking them up, jumping off a ledge, spitting them out and then flying back up to do it again?

Aside from Kirby for the reasons stated above I tend to use Luigi for a somewhat unpredictable all-rounder, Snake for knocking people out and while they're out slapping C4 on them, Sonic as a lot of the time the games i've played are more about survivability, (i.e. running away) and Ike for the ridiculous amounts of damage his smash attacks do.

So if this list has told you anything it's that i'm a trolling, cowardly ass.

Only really play Melee, not a fan of brawl and wasn't an n64 guy.

That said, in melee I will Dr. Mario you so hard you don't even know what's going on. Then I'll swap to G&W and 9-hammer you because I always get 9s at the most opportune / hilarious moments.

Melee marathon may be required this weekend...

Samus.
In EVERY SSB. She's my baby.
And I'm not the best player among my friends, we're pretty evenly matched, but I go on a serious power trip when I charge the cannon because they get REALLY scared.

Sheik all the way!!!

Juggling enemies and death for any one who dares venture into the air.

Sure she's a gloriffied button-masher, but at least she's not Link or Samus (that we know of).

You know there are a host of legitimate complaints with brawl.

From the flow-breaking (and unbalanced as hell) super smashes to the tripping over at inopportune times, the insane characters (sonic) and the weird floaty-ness of combat that makes it feel so much lighter and slower than melee. It just doesn't feel solid and satisfying like melee to a lot of people.

I like Marth and Mario.
Link is also a good and so is MewTwo.
Usually I just random, I don't need to think and I get a broader view on all character.
Captain Falco / Ganondorf is also fun.
Oh I almost forgot Samus Aran -.-
This is too difficult :(

Fox. I got pretty decent with him, but I have a habit of messing around with my opponents, especially if we turned on items (nothing gave me more pleasure than seeing them pick up a bob-omb...it was always so satisfying to show them that yes, Fox's shield could reflect it, and their thrown weapons...and I that had the reflexes and instincts to pull up that shield at the right momemt). That said, I also had a bit of a habit of just hitting the 'random' button in later games just for variety's sake.

In all three, I generally just put my token on Random. I was good with, and enjoyed playing all of the characters. Except Mr. Game & Watch. Fuck him.

Nes in 64 and melee, Lucas in Brawl.

You know, I haven't really thought about it before, but I hardly spent any time with Brawl. Especially when you consider how much time I spent on Melee...
