The video game character most often associated with me by the largest number of people is probably Smash Bros. Brawl's Pit. When I studied in Japan, our dorm had a communal Wii (har har) and we all pitched in and bought Brawl the day it came out. Being "That Guy" who played the game while everyone else was out drinking and having sex with girls, I quickly mastered the nuances of Pit's subtle* but effective fighting style and became respected (or pitied- get it? Pit-ied?) as a powerful Brawler.
I did win the dorm tourney with him. I was very proud.
*: So he's actually not subtle at all, particularly when he screams "nininini!" in his high-pitched little-girl-on-helium voice. You thought his English voice was annoying? Hoo boy...
