Ah Villains, what would our heroes be without them? A lot of my favorite villains are from batman. Mainly the Animated Series, yes the original animated series. With Mark Hamill as the joker.

Mr. Freeze: In the series he is a Shakespearean level villain with epic lines almost every time he opens his mouth. His new background (it was new at the time) gives him an air of tragedy and cold hopelessness. Plus hey...I like the snow.

Darth Malak: This guy didn't fuck around, he leveled a planet to try and keep you down. Fired on your ship when you were still his master. And he was the hardest fucker in the game to fight (at least for me. I power leveled and grabbed the best gear and he still was a tough SOB.)He is just ruthless. Plus he has some awesome face gear.

The Joker: Just about every version of this guy is awesome, the animated series, Batman, The Dark Knight. Even the recent show The Batman gave him an interesting spin....not so much the Brave and the Bold but hey whatever.

From the Disney side we got: Maleficent MISTRESS OF ALL EVIL! This was one crazy woman, she had power and she knew it. Yet she was elegant though cruel. And the sheer look of ecstasy on her face when the princess pricks her finger is divine. She enjoyed every moment of her evil acts.

Gary Oldman's Dracula: ....If you've seen the movie you know what I'm talking about.

Danny Phantom's Evil future self: I don't know if he was given a different name. Dark Danny maybe? But this guy was fun. He had a great voice, was powerful and enjoyed it immensely You know he's having fun that laugh that voice and the joy in his eyes is great and he's just fun to watch.

Megatron: Beast wars, the first series and some of the animated series before and after the movies. BUT NOT THE MOVIE! Again another villain who enjoys his evil. Cold calculating and unrepentant.

Artemis Enteri: Might not have spelled the right. The Assassin from the legacy of Drizzt books. He was just as deadly as Drizzt but worked for the coin. He wasn't unrepentant, or cruel he was just who he was. A guy who fought, and killed for money. and damn was he good at it.

That's all I can think of for now.

My top three:

I loved the Avatar series. Azula was just too cool to leave off the list.

Vader's a given.

I wasn't sure if I should count Roberta as a villian, though. All she wanted was to rescue her boss's kid.

Something else just occurred to me. A brother and a sister, both villains (one of them not for long) in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Both interesting in their own ways.

Zuko (assume all my comments to be about Season 2, when he was the most interesting), by the time the show starts, has been hunting the Avatar for 3 years, convinced capturing him will allow him to restore his honor (the fire nation is modeled after imperial Japan. To them, Honor is a literal thing that can be taken away) and, more importantly, regain his father's love. You know what? I can't do this justice. Watch this [http://www.animefreak.tv/watch/avatar-s02e07-english-dubbed-online-free] episode. It's possibly the best in the entire series, and it sums up Zuko as a character perfectly.

Best thing about him?
From the above episode, you can probably guess that he turns good. And you're right. But only a full season AFTER that episode, in the middle of Season 3. At the end of Season 2, it's foreshadowed extremely heavily. You'd think it would happen next episode. And then he comes to his choice. Azula is fighting against Aang and Katara. He had just bonded with Katara, so it seems like a no brainer that he will switch then. But...he doesn't. He attacks Aang. Because of his actions, the Fire Nation ends up winning the war on that day. The fact that they would set it up, then subvert it is just amazing to me. Then, we get half a season of him in even more inner turmoil, before finally switching. That says a lot about his character; it doesn't take a lot to change sides when you're at the bottom. But he changed when he was at the top. He had his father's love and respect again. He had EVERYTHING he wanted. But he realized that it came at too high a price

Next, we have Azula.

Zuko's opposite. A horrible person, cold, manipulative, a fire bending prodigy. Yet she is still deeply flawed, with Mommy Issues to match Zuko's Daddy Issues. Know what, she sums it up perfectly in Season 3.

That was, hands down, my favorite Azula moment ever.
You've got to love the villains that know they're evil, and are okay with it.

Oh, it was good, but I'm not sure if it was the BEST. I mean, a certain moment involving a pair of scissors comes to mind...

What, no Firelord Ozai? That's got such great ironic humor behind it especially considering your first listed villain :p

Giygas from Earthbound. He tries to destroy your mind, your soul and you and their is nothing that can combat him, except for Paula and you...

I've never defeated a villain that bothered me more than Giygas.

Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic 2.

Not a single doubt, and listening to any of her Endgame speeches is enough reason. It's late and school starts tomorrow so I can't take the time to post them, but I'm certain they are on Youtube.
Don't worry, I was gonna say the same exact thing. I'll put up a video or two.

Not embedding them because they're Google videos taken from an amazing LP. Gigantic spoilers ahead.

Good Version [http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=3499729895149183484]
Evil Version [http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=4783425005198994301]

Fantastic scene either way, and it's largely Kreia who makes it so.
Is there an index of sorts you could link me to? I'd love to watch the full LP.

Okay, lets see...

Khali (The Night Angel) -a Goddess of death that has felled civilizations...
Mariko (Elfen Lied) -she's just a little girl... who has 26 11-meter-long arms and wants to rip you to pieces for fun!
Drake (Gone Series) -he microwaved a puppy... he's just so disgusting in the head that he deserves a spot!
Szass Tam (Forgotten Realms) -tried to destroy existence because he doesn't like you
Envy (Fullmetal Alchemist) - no explanation needed...

...and finally!

Gravemind (Halo) - He controls the Flood, a race of sentient zombie-like parasites that have wiped out galaxies...

...yeah

Witty Name Here said:
Probably Schniezel from Code Geass? Why? (This may contain some spoilers for those who haven't watched the series, although I highly recommend you do) because he just seems so odd as a villain, if anything he seemed like the definition of a Knight in Shining Armor or "Prince Charming", he was calm, kind, he was polite to everyone, including his enemies, and he "Wonders what father would do" whenever he makes a plan or tactic... However, as the series progresses and you see more of him, his facade slowly falls apart seen by seen and you get to see that, deep inside, he's nothing but a manipulating, power hungry, monster. The best part? Usually when a person's facade falls apart, you see them start to act crazier and crazier, however not Schniezel, he still speaks calmly and courteously, even as he kills thousands of people (and even a city full of innocent civilians that were his people) with a weapon ten times more powerful then a nuke. (worse, he gets Nunally, the blind, crippled, teenaged girl to do it for him.) Seriously, this guy's plain despicable, and that's why he's an awesome villain. "But in the end, we have to sacrifice one or two billion lives to achieve a state of permanent peace."

Ummmmm.....you win, I give up.

Not.

I know he's not the evilest person on here but Xenahort from KH2 is my favorite villian. His entire need to complete himself and the drive for that cause gives him my respect. Also, his battles were fun to play.

Hazama from BlazBlue. Hazama, Hazama, Hazama.

He's got no reason to be evil, no sorrowful backstory to give him an excuse. He does it all for the Evulz. It's like he got up one day and simply decided to be evil for entertainment purposes. He's cunning, unpredictable, intelligent, extremely powerful and very stylish. He's the TV Tropes God of Trolls, HEEEEEEEEEEEE'S HAZAMA!

Grand Admiral Thrawn. Intelligent, competent, professionnal. Not batshit insane.

Edit - Lets add Magus from Chrono Trigger to that. Even if he count as a half-villain for me, at least he was interesting and had a solid motivation (afaik). Plus awesome boss music.
