I have been watching lots of movies and plays recently, and most all of them have very memorable antagonists. A lot of them are very intriguing, such as Heath Ledger's Joker, or Sir Ian Mckellen's Richard III. Who is your most intriguing or favorite villain, and if he/she is in a production, what Actor?

Tyler from Fight Club.
He is portrayed by Brad Pitt.
But is he really the bad guy? Isn't the bad guy "the system" and consumerism? I love that movie, so morally ambiguous.

My favourite literary villain would probably King Lear's resident Machiavellian Edmond.

Heath Ledger's Joker as my favourite villain. And Rorschach played by Jackie Earle Haley and Billy Crudup who plays Dr. Manhatten for most intriguing heros.

Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lectur. First answer that came to my mind.

Damn this is a stretch...haven't watched a good movie in forever. I kind of gave up on Hollywood and opted for novels instead. I think the topic is somewhat limited by movie performances, but it's all good.

Hill House from The Haunting. (The original B&W from 1963. Hated the remake.) It's just so wonderfully malevolent.

Sorry, I forgot to mention novels. Yes, a villain in a novel is fine. I said if it was a performance, list the actor. Sorry about the confusion.

I would say the Big Boss dynamic in MGS, from being The hero he is doing what he believes is right until the game shifts to his cloned son...I found it very fascinating.

David Hayter plays Big Boss in MGS3, and possibly other games with him in.

Myself...DUN DUN DUUUUUUHHH!!!!

OT: Hmmm...I think the Inquisitor from Terry Pratchett's Small Gods, and the Pharoh's right-hand man from Pyramids by Pratchett.

Both honestly belived they were doing the right thing. When one died, he was so terrified that he waited for eons in limbo so he could walk the desert with someone, rather than alone.

The other is a little confusing, so I won't go into it. Needless to say, despite the horrors he caused, the assistnant was perfectly happy to repeat all his mistakes all over again from the start the second time round.
