PC gaming dying?
Don't listen to that.

It's just console peasant propaganda against us, the Glorious PC gaming master race.

Seriously though, PCs won't stop being used as a gaming platform for as long as they run IDEs.

Unless you can find a quote of someone actually saying PC gaming is dying, I'm going to consider it a strawman and this thread pointless.

From a very quick Google search. People have been saying this for a while, but since the dawn of the indie renaissance as well as actually factoring in digital sales, most have changed their tune.

Who said it? I dunno some guy in the 80's who was playing early PC games. I think people have been repeating it for some time though.

Well, PC gaming certainly seemed to be in dire straits around 10-15 years ago, but today it really seems to be doing pretty damn well for itself.

It's just a strawman meaning to say that "we're jealous of PC, so we'll badmouth it in order to make us look good". Since it was a time when console games were somewhat good, it was taken seriously. Not now, due to the rise of indie games and a shift towards PC game development.

That's the truth of it. PCs might have their ups and downs but it's always been a general steady ascent.

Consoles look to have peaks and valleys. At the moment we've got publishers and developers uncertain if they should begin a project or not due to uncertainty over the next generation. That type of thing NEVER happens with PC games.

You really just need to look at the games , consoles are still playground for some of the "AAA" games but other than that especially in the Indie field and with somewhat smaller games and the rise of KickStarter it's all rather stacked towards the PC market:

And it has been the same in the previous year, the PC has consistently had more PC game releases (and that even overlooking fields like casual/browser or "social" games) than any other platform: http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/
The thing is they don't have the marketing budget of big Hollywood films though and will sometimes go under in the cracks.

That said, it's sad to see how many developers will have a tough time after the "tablet" and "mobile" gaming market implodes all around them. It's like they haven't learned anything from "social gaming" or the Wii and will always jump in to the newest fad.
0_0 we arent getting FUSE?

I know everyone complaing that the game was going to be crpapy but COME ON I was willing yo give it a chance :(

also....seriously why the hell isnt the Wii U getting half those games? is it because maby the thing is new enough that porting most of those games is too much of a "late to the party" issue?

[quote/](which will also tell you why the Wii U is a stillbirth)[/quote]
Wii U isnt a stillbirth! its got Mario and Zelda! thats all we'll play..thats all we NEED to play! for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever

for the power of the red plumber and the elf boy are eternal

Hey I donated to some of those exclusives! (although Starlight Inception is also for the PS Vita)

PC is the go to platform for many an aspiring dev. Sure there will be some stinkers, but games like FTL are more than worth it.

Its the openness of the PC which has always been its greatest strength not graphics or physics or whatever else people praise.

The barriers to entry into the PC market are extremely low. I can in principal make a game on my home PC, and then start distributing it digitally, and you can run it on your PC, by comparison the major consoles are closed platforms, with much higher barriers to entry. New or small developers simply can't enter those markets.

Until that state of affairs changes, PC gaming will endure.
