Those are two different questions...

If we're talking about the established character of James Bond, then...

James Bond is a British white man.

I want someone young, white, English and unknown.

so it should follow the criteria: white, british, male with chest hair.

However, if we're merely talking about the 00 designation of 7, then it could be anyone. Go through an arc where James Bond gets disavowed and a new agent is given the designation for a bit. Then, when that actor/actress is ready to move on, you can bring James Bond back as a new white guy.

Am i the only one who thinks Daniel Craig still has at least one Bond movie in him?
Christoffer Waltz seems to agree, Saying he is willing to reprice his role as Blofeld with Craig as 007.

I don't have a strong opinion about Idris Elba being 007 either way, but if needed to pick a side i would say no, on basis of the history of the series.

But after seeing some of the other suggestions.
For the love of God, DO NOT cast some "funny" Comedian actor.
Austin Powers and johnny english were fun and al, Bond doesn't need to be become that.


But to be fair i don't feel strongly against retiring the series as well.
Where Casino Royal already was in the reboot territory, Spectre was clearly a remake/mashup of older Bond films.
At least to my knowledge there hasn't bene a spin of, although a movie about M starring Judi Dench would have bene interesting.

No, I kid about the feminism. I don't really have a a suggestion, Boyega would be good though. But I'd just as well watch a Ladybond. Why not? It's everything we love about James Bond, but now you could imagine fucking James Bond and it wouldn't be gay. Of course you Genderswap Money Penny as well, and that would be an interesting dynamic to see.

I care more about the tone the next bond series takes. I loved the Pierce Brosnan movies growing up, but while Daniel Craig did a good job his movies completely robbed the franchise of the fun trying to be all serious.

I want the whimsy of the gadgets, and seeing impossible shit while the Bond theme plays.

I'm fine with an MI6 female agent. Heck, Ilsa Faust was one of the best characters in Rogue Nation, so I'm fine with that. But gender-swapping a male character isn't going to make anyone happy.

Looking at his Wikipedia page, lots of stuff. For me, David Tennant will always be associated with Doctor Who for me, but that's not the be all and end all of his abilities - speaking personally, loved seeing him in 'What we Did on Our Holiday.'

That said, I can't see Tennant being Bond, at least in the scope of my experience. He's great at whimsy, and certainly has acting chops (I've seen clips of his Shakespeare work), but he doesn't seem to have the darkness that I associate with the character.

He might, though reportedly Craig is done with the role.

Truth be told, while Craig is my favorite Bond, and has been in my top 2 Bond movies, I'm happy with Spectre being the last installment. Spectre feels like a conclusion to an overall arc, however sloppily it felt in some places, and also saw some old Bond stuff creeping back in. Sometimes that felt in place (e.g. Blofeld's lair, with information control), sometimes...not so much (e.g. nanites, arguably the car). If the series wants to go back to some old school stuff, fine, but I'd prefer a different Bond do it. Not have a repeat of Bronsan which started with GoldenEye, and ended with laser satellites and gene splicing in Die Another Day.

To be honest, I can't see Idris Elba as Bond. And no, it's not because he's black. The reboot series gave us a black Felix and a black Moneypenny - that didn't affect my liking of those characters at all. However, based on my experience with Elba's acting (Rock n' Rolla, Prometheus, Zootopia, The Jungle Book)...I just can't see him in the role. His live action appearances have had a goofy, almost loveable flavor to them (at least in RnR), and while he did a great job with Shere Khan, that's still animation. And I don't think MI6 is going to accept water buffalos from the ZPD anytime soon. 0_0

Out of the ones in the video, I'd go with Michael Fassbender.
I liked Bond as Brosnan was, Craig is too bulky for a Bond in my taste. Bond is supposed to know how to hold his ground, but not look like a WWE wrestler.

My current answer when asked this question is David Tennat. I think he can do charismatic, but instantly switch to threatening when needed.

I don't know ... I'd kind of like to see a double-0 more like Roger Moore ... bring back the cheese. But the thing is that most of the James Bonds have won fights either by ambush or preparation. They haven't actually been 'deadly' in so far that they're willing to shoot a person in the back. Like any other assassin.
