I know it's a bit late, coming to the end of February to have topic like this but I've been wanting to make this topic for a while, but I just never got round to it. So on topic; who was your favourite new video game character of 2012?

Mine would have to be The Walking Dead's Clementine. It was actually a pretty close call between Clementine and Lee (from the same game) but in the end I had to choose Clem due to the fact that she actually acts like a child without being grating (like a a lot of child characters in media in general) or a wise adult in a child's body (like every other child character in media in general).

You really connect with her which means you protect her because you choose to, not because you have to (Ashley Graham, RE4), and I don't just mean protect her physically. Looking back at my first playthrough I'd say my biggest regret was killing that guy with a pitchfork in front of Clem (I didn't know she was beside me) and I made decisions that got people killed.

So who is your's? Remember that had to have made their debut in 2012.

Corvo Attano, from Dishonored

He may be a silent protagonist, but he's a silent protagonist with MAGIC

Plus, the mask is pretty awesome

Gah.

If Ni no Kuni came out a few months earlier I would have mentioned someone from that game.

Oh well.

I guess I'll go with the protagonist from Journey.

It's a beautiful game and I love the character's design.

There's something incredibly calming about his/her face. I can't explain it.

Clem is great, but I think I prefer Lee.
Maybe it's the playable aspect, maybe it's because he does a lot of stuff a kid can't do, I just think he's fucking awesome. Clem's a close second though.

Conner from Assassins Creed 3... that's a joke btw

On a more serious note, my gacorite character is Vaas from Farcry 3. He fits the definition of insanity perfectly and is just so awesome. In my opinion on of the best fleshed out characters of 2012

Duh.

It's funny, the way your question seemed to imply that there were other options. Because there really weren't.

Colonel Jesus "H" Christ, the finest XCOM soldier I had the privilege to command. Sniper. Psionic god. Volunteer. Legend.

You magnificent bastard.

Although I think that might be cheating, so moving swiftly on...

While I didn't like his character per se I found the story of Martin Walker in Spec Ops: The Line engaging.

Another couple I enjoyed were Handsome Jack and Raul Menendez.

However, Lee and Clem do kinda run away with the best character(s) title from me, just magnificent work by Telltale.

I have to say Handsome Jack. I haven't quite finished Borderlands 2 yet (think i'm relatively close) and he's AWESOME.

"Here Butt Stallion! *horse noises* Good boy Butt Stallion!"

I need to mention Hazama from Blazblue since this is a character thread and he's my new favourite character ever... I picked up the game in 2012 so that counts right? XD

He's so delightfully evil and stylish with a penchant for trolling the entire cast just because he can. He breaks Tsubaki in half emotionally at one point just because she was unlucky enough to be in a conversation with him and he got bored.

He also wears a sharp black suit and matching sweet hat. In fact his Gag Ending reveals that the extent of his wardrobe is nothing but several replicas of that suit.

And Hazama's just not the fighting kind of guy y'know?

[sub]Fucking love that line[/sub]

Oh,oh! I wonder how many Rage Points I could collect if I said Dontay from the DMC reboot? I really did like his character development and he's not just this wisecracking **** wearing a belt as a bra all day. He's just a **** who becomes likeable after some development. Progress I suppose. Or was DMC early January? I'm so bad with years :S

I haven't played Far Cry 3 or The Walking Dead. I don't particularly care to either. I mean, one has a child in it and GOD do I hate those things. I've watched an LP of episodes 1 through 4 already and 's alright. I will get around to Far Cry once I get any enthusiasm for FPS games again. I just cannot be bothered with them now.

Connor, Assassins Creed 3.

No seriously I really liked Connor and his story. I enjoyed playing as a character whom has seen horrors at the age of 4 and has had a hard life that continues to throw him into situations that he'd prefer not to be in. I also liked his interactions with people around the homestead and those American people whom are famous but I can't remember their names. I liked that Connor was different to the previous 2 assassins, he was naive and believed telling the truth would save the world in a society built on half truths and lies. I enjoyed seeing Connors ego take over his reasoning, such as when he argues with Achilies just after killing Pitcairn, or how he was visably annoyed and disinterested with people such as Sam Adams and Paul Revere. I really enjoyed his interactions with Haytham and it was interesting seeing the two work together and how their methods differed.

Corvo from Dihonoured has nothing on Connor, fucker doesn't even speak.

Either Vaas, Clementine or Handsome Jack for me. In terms of actual characters you play, Lee, Maya or Gaige.

I know right?

With there being only one answer, this thread has zero discussion value.

Do I get something after a certain amount?

Like a free Winnebago or something?
No, you get the Winnebago when someone accuses me of stealing my own line from you.

[sub][sub]Now, to google "winnebago"...[/sub][/sub]

I liked Connor better than Ezio

I also liked Tiny Tina from BL2 because she was funny (please dont quote me just to say you found her annoying...I get it)
