My first hero... hmmmmm...

Most of the games I played when I was younger didn't really have a 'hero' character. The first I remember has got to be...

As for recently I'm going to have to go with...

Ocarina of Time was one of the first games I played on the N64 (my first console). Since then, the Zelda games have held a special place in my heart for their gameplay and music. Link will always be my hero.

Same. Those games, along with Spyro games, WERE my childhood. Crash was always easier to empathise with because he's more anthropomorphised (mostly in terms of being ACTUALLY biped), and I guess I preferred mutants to fantasy creatures...today that's not so true, though because I prefer The Elder Scrolls series to Fallout overall.

Current hero? Hmmm...

Probably Subject Delta from Bioshock. When he's being a good guy and freeing Little Sisters, because I always had a love for the misunderstood and unlikely heroes.

Some might ask "Why not Jack?" while I empathise with him more as a human being(we share a first name for god's sake), something about the ending of Bioshock 2 compared to Bioshock 1 (in both cases, the good ones) made me feel a lot more sorry for the main character.Sorry if I'm being vague, don't want to spoil anything for people who still haven't played either game...

I think my first may have been Spyro. Perhaps, not sure. My past is like a blur sometimes. I did love that little guy though. My current "hero" (not really the term I'd use, but okay) would be Geralt of Rivia. If he counts, he began as a book character so I'm not sure he qualifies.

I just really like him because he is the epitome of characters I enjoy.

-Neither good or evil. A little bit of both, but a striving for neutrality.
-Is flexible and can expand his moralities where needed (not set-in-stone righteous save the world crap).
-Is a complete fucking badass when it comes to fighting and the way he fights.
-Looks awesome of course with that long white hair, war torn face and the swords across the back.
-Loyalty to those who he cares about and calls friend (very evident whenever Dandelion and Zoltan get in trouble).
-Is a medieval-fantasy James Bond. How I envy the man and his ease on fucking women.

He is actually my favourite fantasy character of all-time alongside Conan the Cimmerian.

Past: Tie up between Banjo-Kazooie and adult Link. (Yes, adult Link. Even as a KID, I never really liked kid Link.) Although, Banjo-Kazooie was my FIRST official hero, adult Link fits the definition a lot more.

Current: ... I dunno, I grew out of idolizing any one character of a game. All of them represent different and distinct things so I'm just going to cheat and say any completely custom character that I make in applicable games. (Elder Scrolls, Dark Souls, etc.

Celes Chere

"I'm a general, not some opera floozy!"
"Locke... Let me protect you for once..."
"You want to live in this world as it is? No? Then do something about it!"

Yeah, she was pretty much my video game idol growing up. She starts off tough on the outside but scared and unsure of herself on the inside. She'd basically given up her entire life by leaving the Empire. But even though her in-charge persona is just a facade masking her insecurity, she never lets this stop her from doing what she needs to do. She becomes a mentor to Terra while Terra's still grappling with her new identity, she saves the party at the Magitek Research facility, and when Gestahl offers her absolute power, she stabs Kefka in the goddamn stomach. And after getting off the island in the WoR, while everyone else is moping around, Celes is traveling across the planet to reunite the party for an assault on Kefka's tower. Girl handles her biz.

Who goes from getting beaten by guards for betraying the evil Empire to leading an attack to save the damn world? That's right. Celes. Motherfuckin. Chere.

Although I played and loved games and characters before, Such as Sonic the Hedgehog, I would have to say that Sparkster from Rocket Knight Adventures was my favorite for awhile there.

A little bit later he was joined by my homeboy Ristar

I loved the characters for there designs and there personalities. Admittedly it is hard to give a mid 90's 2-D platformer character in a game with little to no dialogue much in depth character but the artists did an excellent job with the designs and sprite animations, really bringing these little dudes to life. It certainly does not hurt that each of them was for a time my favorite game, and each continue to be held in very high esteem by yours truly. Hell, Ristar is my avatar on this forum!

I honestly love so many game characters now that it would be hard for me to choose a current one.

This person right here!

He could jump, ride a boat, a motorcycle, helicopters, and generally punch anything undesirable in the mouth. What's not to love?
I used to play him along with Sonic the Hedgehog, on my Sega Master System, with my friends. I'll forever remember those days with joy!

Honourable mentions goes out to this guy.

I started the Monkey Island series with the third one. Its graphics, humour and characters were all something I loved, and I remember how awesome it was to play the third game again, after finishing number 1 and 2, only so I could understand all the inside jokes..

My first was Crash Bandicoot, purely because he was my first large exposure to video games in general.

Now, though?

This badass right here.

Yeah, the game was a little lackluster, but Eddie Riggs was a great character. Plus, he fights using the power of METAL! and in my book, there's not much better than that.

It was either him or Geralt of Rivia, and someone above me has already give Gwynbleidd the respect he deserves.

First was probably Mario, I had a NES with lots of Mario games and other stuff like t-shirts. I can't have been very old, like 4 or 5 when I first started playing on the NES.

Current one is difficult, don't really care much any more about the characters that way. I suppose it could be Link but I wouldn't call him a hero, it's probably the only one whose games I can say I've consistently enjoyed as an adult though. Got like 6 LoZ games on the 3DS alone.

Same here, one of the first NES games I played was Megaman 2, and I have been following the series ever since.

[HEADING=1]Megaman[/HEADING]

Right now its

[HEADING=1]Kratos[/HEADING]

...because these days I just want to kill shit, and also because Capcom doesnt make any more Megaman games.

[HEADING=1]Sir Daniel Fortesque[/HEADING]

Wish they made a third game, or even another remake on the PS3 or on any nextgen platforms.

[HEADING=1]Crash Bandicoot[/HEADING]

Fuck you Activision and whoever else who raped him since CTR! Bring back Naughty Dog for another game!

My first hero was probably Sonic from way back when I played nothing but Sonic 2 all day. I think I admired Crash Bandicoot for longer, but I was running around the house pretending to be Sonic first, so he wins.

Nowadays, the title goes to Chris Redfield. I'm not sure why, Resident Evil's hardly my favourite game series, and as heroes go he's pretty bland. He's just a military dude with his noble turned up a bit too high. Regardless, I like how he goes about his missions just for the "greater good" rather than some overarching reason like saving a love interest or seeking revenge or something.
You could argue he ends up doing these, but it's not what he signs up for.

In the early 90s, my mom only bought me Sonic & Bubsy games, so guess.

My current hero is Generic Avatar, because most of the games I play let you create your own.

But I just got my hands on a f**k ton of old consoles & games, so it's going to be Link & Red (Satoshi/Ash Ketchum) pretty soon.

I've got so much catching up to do....

First hero? That would probably be this little club guy:

Current favourite? Hmm...

Tough choice, but I think I'll go with Metroid. That dude's pretty cool.

Link from The Legend of Zelda. Specifically the Hero of Time Link. He went through some sick stuff in Majora's Mask. And I respected him for it.

Now? Eh...a character from my all time favorite game EVER. Vanilla Bean from Steambot Chronicles.

Current? I don't know, couldn't tell you. Don't really have one at the moment.
