I've been thinking about this for a while. If you were turned into a character in either the series or the books, who would you turn into?

I would probably be incarnated as Stannis Baratheon. I just identify with him in so many ways and see a lot of myself in him. Some of my friends can't stand him, and I can see why, but IMO Stannis is actually one of the very few somewhat decent guys in the ASOIAF universe. Sure he's not the nicest guy, but he also has a sense of honor and of duty, is trustworthy, rewards loyalty, isn't prejudiced by things like social standing or status and actually gets shit done instead of plotting around or sitting on his ass. Of course that doesn't mean he would always succeed in his efforts (Blackwater kough kough), but I like him nonetheless.

So who would you be? If the same character is different from the book in the series or vice versa (like Arya, for example), which iteration? Note that it's not about who you'd want to be, but who you would be.

I'd be a White Walker, or one of the Others. Fear my undead minions, yo. Haha, In terms of personality I'd probably be Davos Seaworth the Onion Knight.

I'd be Tywin Lannister, because being the schemer behind the scenes who cannot be outsmarted sounds awesome.

I'm probably closest in personality to Eddard Stark. I identify with his sense of honor and duty a lot, as well with his disdain for political bullshit when there are real problems to take care of. I'd certainly do some things different though...you guys know what I mean.

Most probably I'd be "random peasant killed by some passing army #5661"

Of the "named" characters I think probably Samwell Tarly, though not quite as fat, but a bit more useless...

Somewhere between Maester Luwin, Arya Stark, and Jon Snow. I suppose it would depend on which personality aspects are... emphasized by that environment. There really is not a good match, that world doesn't seem to have much use for someone whose life revolves around creation rather than destruction.

I think, if we're being honest, pretty much everyone is Samwell to some extent. I certainly think I'd be about as much use fighting an invasion of undead beings from beyond the edge of the world as he is.

I'd like to see myself in Stannis, but I just don't cut that mustard.

I may be Davos, Ser Jorah, Thoros or the Blackfish...

For any bookreaders: I did identify with Lord Blackwood quite a bit. He might be my best fit.

There is a difference between being useless in a fight due to a complete lack of training (which most of us would be), and being too afraid to stand and make the attempt to defend oneself even in a practice fight.

Hopfully the one who is still alive :)

Honestly I have no idea but that is because I cannot think of a single character from the series I would want to be. They are all kind of douchebags in one way or another.

Who would I want to be? John Snow, especially if he really is half wolf half dragon as the popular theory suggests.

Who I would I actually turn into based on my personalty? the Bastard of Bolton most likely.

Somewhat close to Roose Bolton I believe. I have his general pragmatism, even though I definitely lack the brutality. Raise me in a medieval setting, and I could easily be like him. Stannis is another possibility, but I'm definitely not as rigid as he is.

Then again, I have quite the fascination with the faceless men and death in general. I wouldn't mind being the kindly man.

One of those guys who gets a line or two of dialogue before betting turned into a wight or getting his head stuck on a pike.

I identify most with Samwell or Podric (Tyrion's squire), but if I could pick someone, it would probably be John Snow or Cerio (no idea how to spell that one). Major bad ass points for taking out multiple guards like flies with a training sword.

I'd be one of the dragons. Not only do I get to be a fire breathing dragon but I get to hang around with a cute blonde chick who is frequently naked.

Well, she is in the TV show. Not read the books, I haven't had time *hangs head in shame*

But yeah, I wanna be a dragon.

True enough. I certainly wasn't trying to imply that everyone on the forum is a massive coward, simply that the majority probably wouldn't really know what to do in an actual fight.

Still not really sure which character I'd be other than Sam, though. Possibly Ned, I suppose; I like to think I'm quite honest and loyal, and I definitely get sick of political bullshittery very quickly. Maybe a little bit of Davos as well.
