Not to get too hard on your case but you know about 46% of males are significantly on the Bi-sexual spectrum (see the Kinsey Scale), I mean Bisexual male sleeping with a guy isn't "going gay"

Really "going gay" would be to have sex with a dude but then lose all interest in women.

It's also a lot more gender neutral, as gay is generally used to describe male-male relations.

I think you may be looking too far into it:

1) Gay doesn't man male-male, it can also mean female-female
2) "Going gay" is a mannerism pretty well defined by its useage. No one who says it is really insinuating they would suddenly become gay, but rather use it as a blanket term for being really 'into' someone of the same sex. 'into' in this case being a much more complex concept than just sex or even romantic love.

Basically, if the thread were "What really makes you lose your shit", people could respond without actually meaning that the activity described would cause them to be unable to lose their fecal matter.
