PBGGameplay and ProJared... also Pewdiepie cause because he makes millions despite the fact that everyone hates him and says he's horrible but is constantly the most watched channel on youtube; I wish I was as bad as him :(

My favorite by far is Many A True Nerd.

https://www.youtube.com/user/ManyATrueNerd

He's this very lovable British chap who likes to play games and have fun with them. He's got a very quick wit, and has a lot of fun with his games. He really loves the Fallout series, and has done multiple playthroughs of FO 3 and New Vegas, with interesting play restrictions. He also does random games that he gets for cheap, and sees if they are worth money, and also just has fun with them. He's also done a few real world videos of his attempts to try and bake things in the kitchen. The results are...humorous. Seriously, check him out. He's great.

Also, Team Fourstar has some really amusing Let's Plays. Some of them are done as the characters in their Dragonball Z Abridged universe (Vegeta and Krillin) others are as themselves playing games and goofing off.

https://www.youtube.com/user/TeamFourStar

Both are worth your time in my opinion.

Depends on what you're looking for, really.

Like "scary" games? Markiplier's got a boat-load of those.

Like a mixed variety of games? Jack Septic Eye's pretty fun to watch.

Of course if you're more interested in silly banter as opposed to watching people play games well (or at least people attempting to play games well) then there's the Game Grumps.

Teamfourstar is great, they are pretty fun with party games and drunkenstilskin nd the krillin and Vegeta videos are a blast while being in character.
Welcome back...to the adventures...of DUMPLIN!

Seriously though, I'd much rather them focus on making new DBZA episodes rather than pumping out so many LP videos. >.>
Agreed. Then again, if they just need a break from the monotony and are doing something new to keep their spirits up, then I'll support their decision. We don't want our DBZ Abridged to be tainted by poor morale.
They've stated many many many times that their other projects don't detract from their production schedule for DBZ Abridged.

I will second supergreatfriend. In addition to having a good sense of humour he makes sure to research a solid base of knowledge for his full game lets plays. For more off the cuff commentary he also does weekly streams and runs through of very small time indie games of the type you would find on XBLA.

Succinctandpunchy is fairly solid if less prolific. He has a good voice, also similarly researches for games, and plays things that I rarely see making him a good option for less popular titles. He did Eastern Minds, and actually was able to comment on a significant amount of the backgrounds and interpretation that would be lost on a casual observer.

Critical (aka Penguinz0) doesn't do lets plays per se, but rather brief run through's of games kept to around five or ten minutes with a deadpan delivery. Think my favorite of his was Imscared.

Last I will say... EvilTim (aka CruelestChris). It has been a while since he last uploaded, but my understanding is he hasn't stopped yet, just has other stuff doing right now. He plays military shooters, and has a ridiculously wide knowledge of both alternate history and weapons/tanks ect. Meaning that he can comment intelligently on most of the stuff going on in any given military shooter, in addition to his knack for finding humourous bugs and commentary.

In general I like listening to people who can either do deadpan wit, or are super knowledgeable on shit that I know almost nothing about - both is best I think. I don't care about guns, have never held one, nor do I find their implementation in media particularly interesting, but I could listen to Tim rattle off facts, stats and background on them for hours. Yahtzee is a fair option if not the most researched when he does his LPs with Gabe as well.

I do like goofy jokes and the like as well, but I don't see reason to seek beyond the big ones like Gamegrumps or Markiplier for that kind of stuff. Typically I find deadpan or informative stuff needs to be actively searched for, while goofy stuff has been basically worked down to a science at this point.

I quite like watching Markiplier. He can be a lot of fun and just seems to have an unlimited source of energy.

Robbaz is hilarious. Pure comedy all the way. And he's actually really, really good at "building" type games so he does some really cool stuff in them.

Jim Sterling varies a bit for me. I always liked Jimquisition but I find it hard to watch his Squirty Plays. Largely because trying to work out the game fundamentals whilst simultaneously commentating seems to throw him a bit; and he sometimes ends up completely stumped on something that's really, really obvious to anyone watching.

As an example: I watched his Vermintide video and he's going "oh I've got no ammo". But he DOES still have ammo, its just not in the dual pistols. There's a separate ammo counter on the right side for the side pistol with the rapier, so he does have a ranged attack still but during the entire video I can't remember him using the side pistol once. I know the point of the series is to go in completely blind but I really wish he'd at least check the keybinds before starting.

Really depends on what you wanna watch.
I personally really like Chuggaaconroy, he does a lot of work before he starts recording his series, so he usually has a pretty good idea of what he's doing and where he's going.
If you're more into strategy games you could check out quill18 or Marbozir.

I'm a Game Grumps kinda guy I must say. Mostly because I find their banter either funny or simply interesting. Especially when Danny starts telling stories, the old fart that he is. It's not the best kind of Let's Play stuff for actually interesting or entertaining gameplay. For that I'd rather look at Two Best Friends Play.

Other than those I don't really watch Let's Plays all that much. It's mostly a thing I put on as background noise.

It's rare to find a good comedy duo... well, anywhere, but Matt and Pat work off eachother terrifically. They're funny, passionate, and filled with a bazillion references and heaps of gaming knowledge. They're my go-to.
Their Ride To Hell: Retribution series is pure gold as well.

OfficialNerdCubed is probably my favorite, He's funny and unoffensive.

Jim Sterling If you want to see a guy rip shit games apart.

TotalBiscuit If you want a serious review of a game.

TheRPGMinx. Admittedly I dont watch 80% of her content but she occasionaly does complete play throughs of some alternative and obscure games.

The trick to finding a good LP'er is to first find a Let's Play of a game you want to see.

Go to Youtube and search for a let's play of whatever game you want. I promise you that you will have a lot of choices of different channels that come up. The simply watch a few minutes of a few different people to see if you can vibe off their commentary. Once you find a person you like, enjoy their let's play and look into their channel for older games that they may have completed for you to watch.

Suggested channels:

Jim Sterling: He doesn't let's play as much as he simply takes crappy games and plays them from 15-30minutes per video and provide hilarious commentary. If you think you might like something short form, then try him.

Jesse Cox: This guy is the master as far as I am concerned, he is incredibly funny and sticks games out all the way through (mostly). Unlike many mainstream Let's Players, he does not shy away from very long games. Currently he is working his way through DragonAge Inquisition (90ish videos) and Witcher 3 (60ish videos). While his style may rub some people the wrong way, it is hard to argue with his quality.

DarkKefka: If you like Final Fantasy games, then this is one of the best let play channels for FF games out there imo. His voice is a little weird but he not only let's plays the games, he teaches tricks on how to beat certain bosses or obtain hard to get items for players that might be playing along with him.

Well, there's <url=https://www.youtube.com/user/lucahjin>Lucahjin... She's pretty cool... Kinda nostalgic from my perspective...

Other than that, there's <url=https://www.youtube.com/user/SSoHPKC>SSoHPKC's big-ass backlog of Let's Plays...

One of my favourites is The Great Clement, but he organises everything so nothing takes forever and he talks over the video when it's done, which I prefer. But he just does classic games including all of Megaman and Sonic, well almost.

He's gone through the entire Sonic history and up to Sonic 4 now:

I'd say Game Grumps have to be my favorite, with of course mention to JonTron's solo work. Lots of fun series with more of a light comedy feel; almost more improvisational than lets play focused. I've always thought of them as sort of a "mystery science theater" kind of a thing. They have a large community of artists, animators, and musicians/remix artists that provide loads of other content alongside the actual videos. I personally love the cartooned segments done by Brandon Turner and Gregzilla, and Atpunk's remixes are pretty awesome too.

I also frequent Yahtzee's channel for more of a podcast feel. Longer single videos that don't really feature the full game, but awesome if you just want to hear that stallion of virility say more words.

Afterthought: if you like Battlefield videos, then I encourage you to check out the animated series Battlefield Friends, and their lets play(ish) spinoff Neebs Gaming

Can anybody recommend a Let's Play series that you like? What do you look for in a Let's Play video?
I find humour helps make LP's more watchable. It doesn't need to be flat out comedy, but a few giggles here and there help things move along. Also, competency is a big plus. I don't expect uber 1337 MLG gameplay, but watching people fumble about (particularly if you're familiar with the game yourself) is frustrating.

That being said, here are a few LPers that I watch:

Beaglerush [https://www.youtube.com/user/Beaglerush] - Plays X-COM Enemy Within - Long War Ironman Impossible, also has some older ARMA 2 videos from his ShackTac days.

Time Warriors [https://www.youtube.com/user/timewarriors] - Currently playing Dishonered. Previous LPs include Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 (plus Chaos Rising and Retribution), Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Transformers: War for Cyberton and Majesty.

TheRunawayGuys [https://www.youtube.com/user/TheRunawayGuys] - Currently playing Sonic Adventure 1 and Dokapon Kingdom (occasionally). Previous LPs include various Mario Parties, LittleBigPlanet and various Mario games.

The next few aren't really LPs per se, however they are pretty awesome. There's a group that plays the ARMA series of games, called Shack Tactical that upload videos of their play sessions. The guys I follow are:

dslyexci [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtIBkKQD1u7asfuRsqSLvYQ]
Taconic [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCf4XqGlheQ6XVw-wpQDkcoQ]
blckdrgn813 [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFHuPoVm2yphiTKc_IddQBQ] (Doesn't update frequently)

I hope that helps!

ChristopherOdd is the only serious let's player I watch, he's seriously underrated. As for comedic LPs, Game Grumps are good if you want to see a series on a game, and NerdCubed and VideoGameDunkey do great individual videos on games.

"Deceased Crab" does lots of esoteric games, generally for older systems like the NES, he's a bit dry but he's easy watching.

"PBGgameplay" is good if you want more active stuff, and if you want a more specific recommendation for them "PB&Jeff"

"Vinesauce the full sauce" and "Exinthevatican uncut": they are the full video channels for Vinesauce Vinny and Joel respectively and they will often play through entire games(its live streamed originally but they upload everything to youtube so if you squint its a lets play)

And if you want something that's completely out there and almost shouldn't be taken for a serious recommendation:
"Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka - Gaming Garbage" they play some of the worst games ever made, no seriously worse than ride to hell retribution. We're talking that they play games on the level with games like "day one garry's incident" or "the slaughtering grounds" Yeah that bad, abandon all hope for a good game all ye who enter here.(but if you like watching absolute garbage then there are over 300 videos ready and waiting)

Liam and Woolie are pretty great too.

The entire crew has this sense of energy and chemistry that I just love.
I have liked how they tend to have a different dynamic depending on what game they're doing and what part of the crew is looking into it.

Like how a weird game like Deadly Premonition with Matt and Pat is hilarious and over the top, but I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream with Pat and Woolie actually has some interesting psychological commentary in-between the jokes about how twisted the story is.
