As someone who likes CoD, the internet is painful right now. I'm fine with people having opinions, but if you haven't played the game (like a lot of people on other forums grudgingly admit) then I don't think its fair to say the CoD games are bad, don't change, are boring etc. How would you know if you don't play it?
CoD, although the stories I admit are inane in some (not all) of the games, are probably the most polished and functional games I've played. And I don't even play it a whole amount- just when I want to play a game that runs smoothly.

Since I know nothing about the MW games, when I saw 'Call of Duty Ghosts', I thought it meant 'ghosts' as in the spectral things that proton packs were built to fight. Y'know, COD Zombies, and now COD Ghosts. I'd buy that game. (No I wouldn't, but still...)

How about we go on a twist and hope the game puts you in the shoes of Ghosts as they fights his way through the afterlife to revive themselves? THAT'S what I want to play. (Did Ghost not die?)

Didn't the character Ghost die?

Anyway, won;t be getting this, not because of the gameplay or whatever, but because the fucked up the PC MP so bad with all this lobby bullshit. It isn't about who is good at the game anymore but ho has the best connection to the host.

Last good CoD was Modern Warfare (1)

Although as soon as they put regular servers back (think MW1, BFBC2, BF3) i might change my mind.

Captcha: in the box
Exactly where it will stay

Another boring CoD game, I bet it's annoying for fans to have like 5 or more of the same series on their shelves. The only real good modern one was MW1.
I disagree. After playing MW2 (and loving it), I bought MW1, expecting pure liquid ecstasy. And I honestly couldn't work out why everyone wanked it off so much. It had some decent moments, granted, (the nuke bit being the strongest), but everyone talked about it like it was the single greatest thing ever created by humankind.
CoD is at least, a fun way to kill an hour or two, and still endlessly entertaining to play with friends. They're the smoothest, most polished shooters out there, and I don't see any game taking that crown any time soon.

This.

COD haters are some of the most annoying pests in the internet...

You know, I am actually kinda with them in a way. Yes, they are, mostly, the same game. The same fun, fuctional, good game every year.

So why change something that aint broke? ohhhh, wait, everything must be INNOVATIVE or else its 0/10 rehased piece of crap. Right.

May I ask what sets Call of Duty games aside from each other, besides the obvious visual upgrades? I mean, why would I squee with (checks name) Call of Duty Ghosts? I played a few. They're all more or less the same. What's new about one more CoD?
Some people do genuinely enjoy the single player and co-operative aspects. I personally enjoy the campaigns and really enjoy playing the spec ops mode introduced in MW2 with my friends in split-screen, it's a lot of fun.

Also the story isn't bad usually, just a particular kind of gung-ho overly-masculine stupid.

That said I'm yet to pay full price for one and tend to pick them up on the cheap at a later date... As for why people would care about this one? People really like Ghost... not entirely sure why but they did.

So long as it isn't like Treyarchs cutscene jammed efforts that lack varied gameplay structures through the campaign it'll be competent at the least and good at best, hard to fuck up CoD by now.

I do, however, look forward to the retarded CoD vs Battlefield rubbish flaring up again.

Wait, what? Do you actually mean it?

OT: I don't think they'll be able to sell me on this one. Don't particularly like the new "Infinity Ward".
Any confirmation it's IW? I've heard rumours about the grand and open internet that this one is being mostly handled by sledgehammer and the other studio that does CoD (neither of which are good signs, Sledgehammer being unproven and to my knowledge the other being terrible), whilst IW were supposedly working on something "next gen"? Maybe just a new engine?

Not to criticize this or any other game with a predictable release schedule, but wouldn't it make more sense to announce when a game like this is NOT going to be released this year?

I mean seriously, who ISN'T going to by this COD game if they are always going to be inclined to buy it annually? I don't believe that the developers are going to pull a Halo Wars with the COD series, so they MUST tell them that they are releasing an Online Focused FPS.

I do. I've never had a game of CoD freeze, bug out, glitch or lag for any reasons other than mine own. I look at my games, Mass Effect, Fallout, TES, Borderlands, Far Cry, GTA, Assassin's Creed, XCOM. All of these games have broken at one time or another, but not CoD.
I'm not defending the game's gameliness, as that would be like defending a hay bale from a tsunami, but you can't make 10 games and a tonne of DLC without learning how to do it right.

Not really a surprise now isn't it, OP. COD is one cashcow franchise being beaten to death with mediocre gameplay at best. I would be surprised if there's one year without a COD release.

If MacGregor and Captain Price senior from Call of Duty 2 is not involved, then I don't want it.

Seriously, they are the only CoD-characters I remember. And I miss them so. :<

(And the cackling Germans. Sometimes, you don't know your love until it's gone)

Well, the cover has Infinity Ward on it, so go figure.

The old IW doesn't exist anymore anyway so whatever.
Like I said, maybe IW has spent a year and a bit working on a new engine and the other mooks have made a game in it. Who knows, we'll find out soon enough though.

I can vouch that I've never not had lag in COD, even when I have a great wired connection I get horrificly fucked around by the stupid lag compensation thing they do.

Much more fun in splitscreen.

Eh, say what you like about innovation, but CoD is a blast to play splitscreen. Hopefully my flatmate will pick it up, and we can run around shooting eachother in the face with shotguns again. MW3 was actually really good for that, I'm pretty sure it's the first in the series to let you have bots in your matches.

Sorry to really, really disagree, but polished and functional are not the best way to describe them. Every single one of them has a criminally short campaign, laggy (yes that includes even just shooting lag that is ALWAYS happening) and unbalanced multiplayer, many poorly designed maps, and more things I can't think of right now as I am zoning in and out after two hours of sleep. The killcam system very happily shows it's awful shot lag. It's "polished" in the sense that it has shiny graphics though.

And this isn't to say CoD is a bad game, because they aren't, but they aren't good either. They make no effort to improve (aside from the introduction of zombies) and simply cash in on people buying what is a remarkably similar game. Mario does the same, but to be fair it is aimed at kids and does not hold an M rating. People 18 and up should have a reasonable expectation to see a series grow and adapt. Plus, as long as they pretend to have a great singleplayer I shall always bash them on it being very subpar.

After seeing how Treyarch can handle a stale franchise with a 6 year old game engine and how IW can handle MW3 i will stay as far away from any product IW will put out on display.Treyarc put a zombie mode and a decent story on a lately purely multilayer game. How can a inferior company get the same product out by changing some minor things and sell the same copies
Not to mention Treyarch's single player has always been really good, wit the story being entirely self-contianed (And usualy just building on the previous one) instead of trying to make an over-arching plot which ends up not making any sense midway through the second.

Eh... I wouldn't say they're Self-contained... You can surely understand them without playing the others but they're connected. Black Ops is a sequel to World at War and Black Ops is a sequel to Black Ops 2 with returning characters and such.

and you could say the events of Black Ops 1, did effect how Black Ops 2 played out.

Yeah, but they are no direct sequels. You're not fighting the same bad guys (Or countries) over and over again, and while characters from previous games appear, they aren't the main focus. You could easily pick up BLOPS 2, not notice the two, and not really know there was another one.
