Have you played a game that was "meh" or even outright BAD and then BOOM five times better! just like that, one second its unremarkable, the VERY next it was pure awesome.

Im asking this because Zombie Smashers X. Now, Ive never been subtle About my love for its sequal, so when I heard the original was free, I grabbed it immediately.

eh, It was OK. Theyve improved on it for X2, I see...

Then, I got to the school. THIS is... Not the ZSX I loved. it was however disturbing, OUt of nowhere there was a strange tension that made me want to hurry fuck up for fear of Satan or some shit coming after me. and this tension never quite let up. they game had just thrown a school of satan-worshipping zombies at me on level 2, and if the sequal -or the Spinoff(?) survival crisis z- was anything to go by, this was a sign for fucked-up experience up ahead.

SO escapists, Have you had a similiar experience where a game went from bad to good in split second?

Oblivion goes from bad to good to bad and back again for me pretty much every time I play it. Whether or not I like it depends on how I'm feeling at the moment.

Left 4 dead. First time playing it I thought it was an unresponsive, bland zombie survival shooter with no fine aim or lasting value. Now I can't get enough!

WETs first car chase scene, although it is mainly one long QTE with some mild shooting. The Gypsy Pistoleros song makes it even better. Unfortunately goes back to meh afterwards.

Fallout 3. When I was in the Vault I thought "Man, this game is dull" and the moment I stepped out I just thought "Whoa! This is sweet!"

Kingdom Hearts II. It started so boring, but as soon as Sora stepped back onstage, it sucked my ass right in. Although the 'goody goody' feel of the game still annoyed me...

I vaguely remember only enjoying Final Fantasy VII a little at first (that first playthrough was a long time ago), but once you get out of Midgar and get to Kalm, I was hooked.
you know damn well why

Gots to be Morrowind. Of the boat, randomly picked a class (Didn't know the damn skills actually factored into whether you hit or not...) and then escaped into the wild having stole a bow. Too bad half of that escaping was chewed up by firing arrows at the guards and MISSING! Right there in my face.

Somehow though, I managed to escape and was completely lost. Then, I found a dead body, and on that dead body their was gold and a note. Something in my mind clicked and I just knew things like that was strewn all across the game...

Days later, I found a half naked man with a funky hat in the top of a cave. I was sold.

I have to agree with the person who mentioned Fallout 3, it left the same feelings in my mind as well. Bored, bored, bored, playing something else because I'm so bored, coming back to this now, holy crap when did this game get so damned awesome?

L4D for me. I went in not expecting much after playing at a friend's house...but once I went online and played? Nothing beats the first time the Producer complete has it in for your group and you hear your team mates shouting in your ear. I couldn't stop grinning for the rest of the campaign.

Sadly this hasn't happened yet, mostly my first impression of a game stick with me the entire time I play, only time it changes is when the game gets worse.

Modern Warfare 2. No, not the single player campaign, that was fine through-and-through. The multiplayer.

There wasn't any epiphany and the things that annoyed me at the start still do, but it grew on me.

Star Wars Force Unleashed. Some bit's are dull but others are awesome. Let's hope the sequel improves on the original then that will be one hell of a game.

Red Orchestra, it has a brutal learning curve. But its extremely satisfying to master and has an endless supply of epic "HOLY SNAP!" moments.

Tales of Legendia. It goes from bad to so bad it's good, with dialogue so outright awful that I kept pushing through the random encounters just to see what utterly ridiculous cliche they'd use next. Seriously, the game seems to know what I said, since I would make fun of a cutscene, push the X button to keep the dialogue going, and then the cutscene would agree with me.

"Yeah, he's right, the two teenage girls probably would just talk about boys and love and shit. Let's rephrase what he just said."

Fallout 3, I'm always either completely obsessed with it or so bored with it that I can't even be bothered to get past the main menu.
