Whos enjoying there free copy of metro 2033?

Bought it last christmas. Now easily one of my favourite games.

Especially on Ranger Hardcore.

I've been enjoying it tremendously, they did a great job with the setting and immersion, played it for about 2 hours this morning, got home from doing stuff and played it for another 3 hours.

I got it as a gift from my friend on steam and I love it. For me it is shameless proof that graphics do not play a role in creating a good game experience.

Played it, and i really liked it, as well. And it does look quite pretty, too.
I´ve even started a second playthrough. But those difficulty levels kinda confuse me. Reading the Wiki didn`t really help, either. Anyone know what exactly changes in the Ranger difficulties? I mean, Ranger Easy sounds a bit...easy? And the other one is hardcore, and that sound a bit difficult. And then there`s just Hard difficulty. So, yeah. A bit confusing.

But the game itself was fun. Gave me a few jumps (I´m easy to scare, so i consider Metro to be of the action-horror genre).

Got it a few months ago, don't have a facebook account. Fun fact, some of the dev team for Metro were on the Stalker team before Chernobyl was released. Could you imagine if Stalker looked and ran like Metro 2033? *PC and survivalist nerdgasm*

Oh, and Metro is a 101 course on the importance of setting, atmosphere, and immersion through gameplay. With some ironing out Last Light could be a damn masterpiece.

It's one of those games I've been wanting for a while but always put off 'until later' then when it was free had no real argument to not get it. I've played about an hour or so and I'm enjoying it so far. I read the book a few years ago and would like to see how the two versions compare later on. Only got a couple of niggles like sometimes swapping weapons and gas-masks doesn't always work (especially as mine is broken an I'm wheezing loudly...constantly) and the checkpoints can be a bit far appart.

I played a bit of it, though unfortunately it doesn't run too well on my laptop. I really like the look and the atmosphere, but gameplay-wise it's not exactly setting my pants alight. Shootouts are clunky and obnoxiously difficult but are unfortunately hard to avoid because the stealth mechanics are also pretty lacking. Seems like the second one guy so much as smells your farts everyone immediately zeroes in on your location.

I'll probably come back to it in a couple weeks, but for now I've got a pile of other games to play.
