This is a myth actually. Turn-Based games have thrived on console for a long while now. In fact, the Japanese make a killing out of making turn-based games for the Playstation 3 and other consoles, with titles like Valkyria Chronicles (the closest analogue to this game), Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, the Disgaea franchise, Super Robot Wars, etc.nikki191 said:as consoles really dont work that well for turn based strategy
God dammit you lucky bastard! I wish they would release a demo, I'd play the absolute shit out of it.Syzygy23 said:I played it first hand at PAX, and I've got good news and bad news.
The bad news is it's not just a graphical and UI update for XCOM. So don't get your hopes up.
The good news is it's EVEN BETTER than the original in ALMOST every way.
Apparently being Psychic means you can't wield a gun anymore, but honestly, once you had a powerful psychic soldier in the original, did you EVER equip them with anything other than the amp and maybe a medkit?
I think both games, FPS and TBS are getting developed under 2K's watch, but the TBS is the one a) everyone cares about and b) is close to being finished (as in its getting released within a months time).Gatx said:What happened to that other X-Com game that people thought was blasphemous because it was an FPS?
Yep, because it was still handy to have a gun in hand to kill extra aliens who you already used your mind control to disarm. You only need so many scouts at a time, so it's good to sometimes cull the herd. Getting psionic research by month 2, also known as how to make the alien invasion in the original xcom into a joke.Syzygy23 said:Apparently being Psychic means you can't wield a gun anymore, but honestly, once you had a powerful psychic soldier in the original, did you EVER equip them with anything other than the amp and maybe a medkit?
