Who's that guy on ZP!?

You know the one: that white guy with the short brown hair, wearing an extremely bland expression that Yahtzee pastes up for all sorts of reasons. I couldn't find a picture on Google to put up, but he appeared on top of Yahtzee's "elaborate hat" at the beginning of last week's Darksiders review if you don't already know what I'm talking about.

I'm just curious who this poor sap is. Is he Yahtzee himself in a high school yearbook photo? Just some random, bored-looking guy he found on Photobucket? A friend of his?

Anybody know the answer?

I think I asked this exact same question in a thread once. I believe the general answer I got was that Yahtzee just searched for the most boring blank expression he could find, and that was it.

This comes up every once in awhile. Consensus seems to be "it's one of Yahtzee's mates", "it's a generic image he found of a boring, bland person", or "it's some actor from an 80s movie or something that somehow no Escapist has actually seen."

I've wondered that myself seeing as how he uses that picture a lot... Every time I do see it however, I can't help but think of Rick Astley... Strange as that may be, for some reason he looks a little like him in my pov.

He explained this when he answered all those questions at one of the game conventions or something, not sure exactly what it was called but the vid is up on the escapist somewhere. He said he wanted a face showing no expression whatsoever and that that image was the closest he got to it.

Pretty sure he's a game developer or something like that. Fairly certain he explained it in an early episode (back in the days when the soundtrack was actual music and it wasn't on the escapist).

It's the work of a photographer who was trying to get pictures of emotionless faces. That picture allegedly stood out to him.

I remember him explaning it like this in a video once.
