And I'm gonna have to back Jonathan Creek. Not the greatest, but it's just so fun a series to watch, and it's pretty different.
Dirk Gently I guess, from Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglass Adams. That or Thursday from The Man Who Was Thursday by GK Chesterton.
He gets the job done, one way or another. But he still knows how to behave in front of the civilians.
Honorable mentions to Adam West's Batman and the Green Hornet.

L, pretty much the entire deathnote series is more twisted, conniving and multi-layered than Lost, and still makes sense.
