Who's your favorite middle-stage Pokemon?

So, whenever I see threads along the lines of "who's your favorite Pokemon?", I notice a trend: People tend to pick either final-stage Pokemon, or first-stage Pokemon.

But what about the middle child? This thread is for them. No Charmanders or Charizards here, this thread is for the Charmeleons, the Wartortles, and the Ivysaurs.

Also, while I'm not going to specifically deny them, I'm talking less about retconned second-stage Pokemon. What I mean is, Pokemon that were originally two-stage Pokemon, that acquired a final evolution in later generations, like Magmar and Dusclops (or ones that obtained a pre-evolution, like Clefairy). You can list them... but I'm not really talking about those guys. They had their time as fully evolved Pokemon. This thread is more about the overlooked second-stage Pokemon.

Personally, I like Haunter. I'm more of a fan of him than Gengar, personally.

I wish there were a way to get a Haunter with the stats of a Gengar (outside of cheating), because I definitely prefer the design.

I'm assuming we're also omitting Pokemon that only evolve once, such as Magikarp, Spearow, Paras, etc.

So for my own input...

Probably that guy. I don't like it more than Tyranitar, and it's certainly an interesting design choice considering what both Tyranitar and Larvitar look like in comparison, but it captures the metamorphosis of the evolution tree really well, all while being significantly more badass than the likes of Kakuna or Metapod.

Mine should be the one that no one saw coming

Who honestly thought Trapinch would become a dragon? Same with swabulu (the cloud thing) I never thought that little blue bird would become a dragon.

Bit of a cop out I know, but... Pikachu, I choose you!

Or you know, Quilava or something :p

Since Ivysaur is one of my most favorite ones ever, I guess I'll have to pick him/her.
Also I tend to count the "no evolution" ones into the same category as mid-evs, for, in the OP, said reasons.

Dragoniar, always wished that dragonite followed that look instead of becoming the giant orange puffball

Yeah, I gotta say that Haunter is my favourite pokemon ever.
Other than that, I would have to chose Vigoroth.
I like manic sloths, what can I say.

I actually love some of the middle-children when it comes to Pokemon. In fact, my favorite Pokemon of all time happens to be a middle child.

Blaziken is nice and all, but Combusken just looks more badass to me, particularly since it still has a fair amount of chicken features. Hell, I always slap an Everstone on that baby first chance I get so I don't have to worry about em evolving because I didn't prevent it myself.

Feth off, ninjas.

I guess Grovyle would be my runner up.

I don't know why. I just like his colour scheme

Gonna throw in another vote for this swanky-ass ************ right here.

I couldn't find any other decent pictures of Grovyle that weren't massive or stolen so we'll have to settle with the tiny one. But you still can't deny he looks awesome.

Dragonair, She's just lot more majestic than dragonite, who just looks kind of silly and awkward.

Also Quilava's pretty legit too.

My answer has always been Wartortle since... I just like the way he looks, but Doublade from X and Y is proving to be really awesome. Just the way it moves and the fact that it's pretty much soloing the game and still hasn't fully evolved.

I didn't have to think of a different pokemon since Quilava is my favorite.

Quilava is the only Pokémon that I don't evolve.
I don't evolve mine either, I find them to adorable to evolve.

A lot of interesting ones brought up here. I agree on the Dragonair point (because who really wants to go from awesome-cool to frumpy and orange), but my two would be either Charmeleon or Lairon.
