Why agree with Yahtzee?

I'm like most Escapists. I watch both Zero Punctuation and Unskippable, the most popular video series on the site. They never fail to make me laugh and smile whenever I watch their work. However, since Zero Punctuation is the more popular of the two, more people are inclined to agree with it. Despite that, some people forget that Zero Punctuation is a "game review" in the same sense that the Colbert Report and Daily Show is a "News Show", and tend to take Yahtzee very seriously. It usually swings both ways, with people clinging on to his words like it was passed down from God himself, or with people hating ever last syllable that he utters.
I've also noticed that many people, even if they haven't played the game have posted in the comments that they harbor the same exact complaints, even if it's overlooked or practically fictional. And in the few cases that Yahtzee does review a game well, numerous people lavish their praises on it like its the second coming.
Do you always agree with Yahtzee? I have my disagreements with what he says sometimes, but that doesn't stop me from laughing and enjoying the game.

I'm often surprised by my agreement with Yahtzee but there are also quite a few things we don't see eye to eye on.

I only agree with myself, if I like a game I can care less what a reviewer brings up. The reason so many people do agree with Yahtzee is because he brings up points that most mainstream reviewers overlook......like Mass Effects blocks of texts and the poor RPG elements of Bioshock

Well yea i disagree with him, on a lot of things.

He is a Game "Critic", its his job.

Sometimes he has a view that i do agree with but, when it comes to games i rely on my own views than another persons views.
I play and get an opinion of a game myself.

Many times he's fairly accurate with his criticism, even if its by over-analysis. Also, he's made his living by tearing them to shreds, and it's always fun to see something that SOMEBODY ELSE MADE torn to bits.

I have my disagreements with him sometimes and I agree with what him other times. Quite a bit of the time though I just haven't played the game he reviews and I don't have an opinion.

I don't agree with 99.9% of what he says. Its why I never read his "extra punctuation" articles because they arn't all that funny (to me) and contain nothing that I agree with.

What is the .1% of things we agree on you ask?

I think boobs are stonking great as well.

I disagree with several of the points he brings up on some of the games that I own, either in the correctness of the claims or how much the issues actually detract from the game. However, there are many times where he is right on the money. Honestly, though, I mostly watch him to see a funny rant. I generally don't take his opinion as the be-all and end-all on a game, unless he particularly despises it for reasons other than being of a style or genre he doesn't particularly care for.

Mass Effect having large blocks of text? It has a lot more spoken dialogue than text blocks if I remember.

I disagree with him on a lot of points, but in most cases I can at least see where he's coming from, and he's always amusing.

Nope. I think he's consistently funny, but since I actually found the Escapist by way of Unskippable rather than the much commoner ZP route, I think I've ended up taking a somewhat more skeptical view of Yahtzee's work. I loved Oblivion, liked Haze and The Witcher, yada yada. I've actually begun to enjoy his reviews much more since I started adopting the viewpoint that he's probably fucking with his viewers to some extent in pretty much every ZP he does.

So no. I like him, I think he's original and creative, but I afford him only marginally more respect than I do to more traditional game reviews.

I do agree with a few points that he's made, but I don't always agree. The reason so many agree with him is that he brings up a lot of valid points that many reviewers may overlook.

I don't always agree with him. But, in general, yes. He makes valid complaints and actually does, on occasion, complement his games.

undeniably he knows one or two things about gaming.
but when it comes to matters of opinion there is no right or wrong.

and ofcourse in order to come over funny he has to over-react a little* sometimes.

* ''a little'' can be read as alot.

^Basically this

Sometimes I'm in awe as to how he pinpoints the things I disliked about the games he reviews, doesn't mean it necessarily turns said games into bad experiences.

As of late, Yahtzee has brought up more valid points in his videos. I still don't really listen to him, but of the games both of us have played, the majority of his criticism is valid, just not to the extent that he brings up.
