Im 15 and the difference between my year and the year below is quiet staggering. When I was 14 my voice has already broken and there voices are still really high pitched. The even stranger thing is I know 13 year olds who have broken voices and are more mature then the 14 year olds. Someone please explain.

I have to say, I seem to be in the minority here, what with being almost 30 (no, it's not actually as old as you would imagine). However, I will say that I know some young people in the 12-16 age range, and they are very nice and very pleasant. They're very much like mini-adults. Being a "grown-up" doesn't have so much to do with your age, as with your outlook. If you're polite, reasonable, and apply common sense and intelligence to the world around you, people will get along with you just find regardless of whether or not you're a teenager. If you act like a prat, whether you're 9 or 12 or 17 or 35, people will dislike you. While there's a certain element of age-related prejudice in society, the majority of people are quite tolerant - if you find that "everybody" hates you, then it's probably because you're doing something to deserve it. Respect isn't given, it's earned.

When I was 14, we didn't even have this fancy internet doohickey...

Anyway, OT, I think it's just a metaphor. As in like a whiny 14-year old kid, because for some reason when many boys start to grow hair under their arms it makes them think they are God's gift to everything and so the generalisation tends to be accurate, although I'd never hate on anyone just because of their age.

AGREED.

I also agree with some sentiments above. I dislike them because I was a 14 year old once and so have filled my quota of being around 14 year olds. I have no wish to repeat that experience.

(You are probably a nice 14 year old, but it's like finding a cookie in a sink full of mould.)

I don't hate them, I just realise that I was powerful stupid when I was 14 and if I probably had a squeaky voice. But hell I'm the first to admit how stupid I still am.

As long as they aren't screaming and yelling fuck every second word I'll live with the voices.
That isn't there fault.
I have a pretty high voice myself and it sucks. Can't hold it against anyone else.
Honestly, I find GUUUUUURRRRRRRL gamers more annoying than the kids as I rarely encounter a girl on XBL who doesn't announce to everyone how she's a girl and awesome at games but not to hit on her and shit.

I know

I recently fought one in Halo 3, and to be hounest, she kicked my ass, and teabagged a whole lot. I was a little irritated, but it was no big deal.

Then, after the game, she started sending me offensive messages for no apparent reason. Note: I didn't even talk to her. She probably harassed everyone in the loosing team.

Because the internet consists of fifteen year olds...
Actually,

damn you ninja'd me :p

but yeah it's a generalization in the light that allot of them tend to be 14 or younger, thus, 14 is a good pegging age for the stereotype.

I personally have played online with a few younger players with high voices that weren't annoying or stupid, but played to play for fun, and never flamed anyone or acted rude or derogatory in the slightest... but that said a "few" many of the 14 and under crowd tend to be whiny and irritating at the BEST of times... not to insult any of you who are in that age range, but when you look at how many of them there are there must be at least some sort of 1/10,000 or something ratio of acceptable to irritating younger players.

on top of that playing a game that semi-realistically portrays a war or warlike scenario, hearing a high voiced child, screaming and ranting at you, is extremely immersion breaking in the midst of blowing away, and or being blown away by character models that look like full grown men.

/end rant

Shut up Mokuba. Mommy and daddy are talking.

Actually, it's because a lot of younger people (particularly in England, I feel) have this need to try and act all big. They do the most immature thing and try to act mature by throwing swears in every direction without any real reason, often use shock-value humour of the most tasteless kind such as racism, sexism, and homophobic insults at anyone who isn't exactly the same as they are, because they're still in the stage of Secondary-School I know as "recruitment" when you're mostly broken-down, military style, to be the exact same duplicate of whatever cool group is new in town.

Obviously, not all people that age are like this, it's just the few who are have more of a presence and are heard more often because of it. I've personally never had a problem with younger people, but they've often had a problem with me. I once had referred to one guy as suffering from 'Jack-Russell syndrome' in that they were small and felt the need to be loud and aggressive. To which his reply is "OMG! Who knows about dog-breeds, you sick fuck!" and then tried to rally everyone into hunting me and killing me in the game because I was, apparently, into bestiality.

For knowing what a Jack-Russell is.

That, and cool people exit the womb aged 18.

Cuz they are squeeky and whiney and yelly and complainy. Well, unless that are hawt chicks and a bit more legally older than it's not so annoying :) And actually they do quite a bit less of that stuff anyways, so yeah.

OP-If you're talking about all those little squeaky voiced children that make up the vast majority of XBLA and essentially ruin it with their immaturity and profanity, then yes I hate them.
I don't much care about a person's age, more how maturely (or otherwise!!) they act. If they act like a child, they'll be treated as such, even if they're old enough to draw a pension.

This. The average 14 year old on the Internet I've had the misfortune to mean is loud on his mic, abnixous, and generally a dickhead thinking he's being mature and adult by being an arsehole. Oh that and the homophobic, sexists, or racist stuff they shout or type. Also, they often (though not always) are the ones who cheat in online matches and thinks its very amusing not to have a fair fight, and can't understand why the oppositing team doesn't agree. Though thats not completely unique to 14 year olds.

i have and i do, its kids around that age have no respect for anyone be it there elder or better, they are a bunch of punks, and they also in the video game sense, take it to seriously and then go about and insult me... i mean i dont even have a sister or a dog, and that head shot was well deserved

Actually its because most people who play video games HATE CHILDREN. So of course if one kid has a octane too low/high we subconsciously try harder TO KILL THEM.

Generally, people at 14 and under suck. I am completely ashamed of people my age. They are pathetic at PC gaming. And they take refuge on the internet because they have no RL friends, which normally means their voice is squeaky as all hell.
