Why all the hate on Hearthfire?

Hearthfire is alright, but it seems a lot like the "Build your own house" mod on the Nexus. I don't think it's worth attacking the dlc though, cause it does add a couple new elements to the game.
What I am more upset about is the instability of my game it's causing, and adoption limted to game houses. But it's only a matter of time till it is fixed by more mods.
I think hearthfire didn't exactly "need" to be released to pc. Consoles probably really needed it due to lack of mods

On a side note... Anyone who implements MLP in Skyrim... That is justt disgusting.
...Explain to me what is so disgusting about using a shield with Vinyl Scratch's music note and blasting things with a Bass Staff (Bass Cannon in the form of a staff)

Anyways, the mod. It's a nice mod, but if you don't like it, don't buy it, simple as that.

Because it could be so much more, because most of its features have already been done by modders and better.
Console gamers can't get mods, people seem to forget this a lot.

Because people are entitled as usual. When they're not crying that RE6 isn't scary anymore or that ME3 had a bad ending they are whining about this.

I LOVE Skyrim so I got this right away, but since I already had a house I made a little museum for my character, to showcase all the unique weapons and armors and even a trophy room and garden. Sure the DLC would be better had it been there during the journey and not after but I still like having a little place to show off my stuff, even if I'm the only one to see it.

I also made a house in the forest for my pure evil character, so she didn't get ambushed by guards every time she visited her house in Whiterun.

Just ignore anyone who tries to use that word seriously anymore.

Meh, doesn't look like anything worth giving a shit over either way. I see nothing wrong with Bethesda releasing some bite-sized DLC at an appropriate price-point, which is what they've done with Hearthfire. But house-building and adopting those hellspawn they call children in Skyrim doesn't appeal to me. In the slightest. At all. Personally I also see no reason for people who own the PC version of the game to spend money on it since there are apparently mods out there that do the same thing for free, but just because it isn't necessarily worthwhile for the PC community to invest in doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. /dirty console gaming peasant

Is it... is it amplified?
Well, if you love Bass Cannons, dubstep, pure destructive power, the ability to make your enemies deaf, blind, and turn into nothing but a pile of ash when they die, and generally screwing around in Skyrim (This staff is very OP), then you'll love Vinyl Scratch's Bass Cannon!
Really, the staff plays the song and everything while utterly killing anything you point it at.
Yes, it's very OP, but it's a fun way to screw around in Skyrim: Who doesn't want to run around killing things with the pure power of dupstep?! ...Besides those who hate dupstep of course.

It's only five dollars.

I see no issue here, since it seems pretty cheap. Toss a fiver to Bethesda and get some cool house-building abilities. Sure, some mods out there do it, but I see no issue with the content itself.

If Bethesda tried to charge ten dollars for it, then I'd be a little upset that they were being so greedy, and would refuse to buy it for that reason and would encourage others to do the same. That said, I haven't even bought the five dollar version, only because I stopped playing Skyrim long ago and don't feel like going back anytime soon.

I'm pleased to say I know what neither of those things are...
Vinyl Scratch ("DJ PON-3") is a background character in MLP: Friendship is Magic, and also happens to be my avatar.

She stars in a fan parody called Epic Wub Time, seen here:

In it, at the 3:55 mark, she uses a weapon, her "Bass Cannon," to defeat a bad guy. This is not to be confused with the dubstep song Bass Cannon, by Flux Pavilion.

The song clip played during the Bass Cannon scene is apparently in this dude's mod, and is seen in a loop here, since I take it from your...phrasing that you have a serious problem with ponies and wouldn't watch the above video:

So it's a mod that adds a staff/shield based on this character and her bass cannon, and is apparently an awesome weapon to boot. Seems pretty cool to me, even if it wasn't pony-themed.

But considering that there are a billion different pony mods out there for Skyrim, to trash them all is a pretty lame thing to do even if some of them are pretty damn stupid. Many of them are just funny little reskins or audio changes.

Me, personally, I have just one mod for L4D2, which changes the "Horde Incoming" sound cue to a spoken line from MLP calling for a party. It's just a light humor that adds to the already silly humor that L4D2 is made of.

Point is, actually, what is my point here? I guess it just seems like you're calling people out over them having fun. Are you this opposed to Star Wars or Adventure Time or any other theme for mods for Skyrim as well, or are you one of those "manly dudebros" that has to defend their masculinity by attacking MLP-themed things at every turn?

I just...don't understand your attitude and why you straight-up stated that you're pleased to not know about something MLP-related. That seems, to be blunt, rather elitist (or at least mean) and uncalled for. As if you have some sort of personal vendetta against MLP or something.

I'm not angry about it. I'm indifferent.
I've got mods that provide me with homes and if I want to raise a family I will play Europa 1400 The Guild, or I will buy the Sims.
It's fine for console players etc though.
OP, you seem to be the one getting angry that people don't like what you like. It's not a personal insult.
This. The mod fails to live up to expectations, since, most PC players have access to mods that do similar things.

Build a house-It's a mix and match of parts, and there's only 27 options. Well, ok I guess, but if I wanted predone stuff, I could choose from any one of 1000 houses on modNexus. That's more choice, no incentive for me.
Adopt a child-Watch the escapist review. That part of the game is pointless and silly. Child does not age or develop, conversations are repetitive and not interesting.
New NPCs-Wow. I really needed more random non-quest NPCs. I really care about this.
New Recipes-Because I was that desperate to taste more imaginary food.

I don't hate it, I don't see the point. If I see a well-done bit of DLC which adds a significant amount to the game, I'll pay for it. Shivering Isles, or Dawnguard, both add extra, interesting content. For that matter, I'll download mods that add more content that do it well. But my paying for such a thing is contingent on it being something I can't get for free, and something I actually want. Look at that list again. I've got like 3 houses in Skyrim. Do I really need another 3 houses with little customisation? Not really.

If the DLC included, say, Levitation abilities, and a just one new house in a floating realm or some shit, I'll be right on it. That's even less content, but I'd pay for it because it's interesting to me.
