I was just listening to something about this on NPR. Apparently there is a new coalition of Jewish and Muslim theologists coming together to discuss this religion.

Hayim Lapin, director of the university's Jewish Studies Program, says he looks forward to breaking new ground at the upcoming conference.

"We hope to both explore standard issues and to develop old ones," he says. "Near and dear to my heart is presentations on the interplay between pre-Islamic Zoroastrian Iran and the Jewish population of Mesopotamia at the time, and that's brand new work. And that's true through much of the material that's going to be presented during the conference."

I agree. The amount of hate that the Zoroastrians receive, even on this website, is disgusting. You should all be ashamed.

ok, now people are just being silly. what is there going to be a pastafarianism thread next?
but the thread did make me laugh though.
Zorastrianism is quite closely linked to Judaism, basically another branch of it.
maybe I should have added a sarcasm tag at the end of that first sentence, I was just pointing out the OP made this thread as a joke towards all the other why all the hate threads.

it's was originally meant as a reason against teaching intelligent design in school, but it did kind of create it's own life on the internet.

Well? What did this ancient Indo-Iranian religion [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism] ever do to you?
You would have won a billion internets if you had posted under an account named "Zarathushtra", "Nietzsche" or if you wanted to be a bit more obscure just "Friedrich".

Still win as it is, just not as big.

I'd really like to indulge your fantasy...so I will. RTW:BI gave me the idea.

I had considered making a Nietzche reference, but in the end decided against it. I'm sad that my choice reduced this thread's overall win quotient. :(

Not to worry good sir, the win level of this thread is still clearly >9000.

Both water and fire are considered life-sustaining, and both water and fire are represented within the precinct of a fire temple.
I wonder if Zoroastrianists created the Megaton Hammer?

Best. Religion. Ever. And if you place a pirate in, on, or around your vehicle, your car will not give off emissions. Ever.

I think all the hatred comes from Ahriman envy. I mean, all the Abrahamic religions could manage was a watered-down version, a rebellious underling no less, and Hindu brahmins have to make do with a really bad case of divine mood swings. Those Zoroastrians got the really cool bad guy.
