Why all the hate towards Rebecca Black?

Seriously, why do people hate her so much? I've read a ridiculous amount of death threats in the comments section of her YouTube music videos, and I find it to be absolutely absurd. Don't get me wrong, I'm not personally a fan of her music, but her voice did sound pretty good when she sang a few lines from the US National Anthem on that interview.

Granted, they did use auto-tune in her song "Friday", but that shouldn't totally ruin her credibility as a talented singer. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Oh fuck... I just had to click that red button, didn't I?

There's no point in hating the singer herself. There is, on the other hand, EVERY point in hating the companies that continue to spew out tripe like "Friday", but I digress, overall I actually tend to think of "Friday" in a very positive light... not because the song itself is even the slightest bit worth a damn, mind you, but rather because of the amazing amount of talent that wormed its way out of the woodwork in the wake of the song's release, with there being too many amazing remixes, parodies and even orchestral arrangements (yes, there is an orchestral arrangement for "Friday", and it's absolutely amazing...) to count.

This is one of the things I love most about the Internet. There are always a vast number of people who use every new trend and viral video as a chance to show off their (musical, more of than not) talents. This is not only capable of turning feces into gold (which is what happened with "Friday"), but is also able to spin more gold from something that was already gold (Equestria Daily's extensive fan fiction collection, anyone? Or, if you're not a brony, the works of Miracle of Sound, perhaps?).

Once I take all that into account, I find it hard to be angry at Rebecca Black. The company that produced her song, yes (no amount of Internet talent could dampen down my anger at the body corporate), but the singer herself? Not so much...

Eh. As much as liking things are fads, so are hating things. It's popular to hate her, all the cool kids are doing it.

I have no idea, I just ignore her and all the people that hate her just because I don't see the point in hating her. So what if she sang a horribly auto-tuned crappy song.

So, OP, I agree with everything you've said. Hate the cookie cutter song and not the singer.

Because the internet has a bizarre fetish of making people famous by hating them.

I certainly wouldn't have heard of Millionaires if the internet collective didn't despise them, and I'd be missing out on some pretty well-written beats if I hadn't heard of them. (Millionaires is an especially interesting example, as they are fully aware that the internet hates them, and trolls their haters as much as they can to make them watch more, and thus make them more money. It works.)

Did you just report yourself? lol

I didn't know we were still talking about rebecca black. Yeah it was cool to make fun of her for like 2 weeks, but then it just got kinda pathetic.

ummm... yeah, her song Friday was just horrible to listen to and it almost (I think it did...) become a meme to hate Rebecca Black. It was a pretty dumb song, but most of the music on the radio are pretty dumb. It was like a perfect storm of everything that could go bad in a song:
1. sang off key
2. auto-tuned off key
3. generic premise for a song
4. weak rap
5. bad loops
6. not to mention the bad video.

My way of hating people like her, Kesha, and lady gaga is basically to just not listen to any of their music and, in a sense, deny their existence. Thus neither them nor their record company gets any of my money or attention. I don't much like pop music, and people like her are the reason why -autotune, not writing their own music, and... overall just really BAD music.

I don't dislike HER, I'm sure she's nice and I do recognize that she's merely a pawn of a huge company. What I hate is the damned 'Friday' song, and others like it. They make me want to plug up my ears with cement.

Pointless, stupid, makes you look like a tit and it is not needed

For a singer to use Auto-Tune would be like a golfer using a laser guided ball
Autotune is still a bit hard to use.

As shes a talentless, vacuous child who for some bizarre reason is making music that noone wants her to make- I dont get why she's carrying on.
But it must be said the hate does go too far, I mean death threats? thats a touch ridiculous.

Hell I don't know, honestly I think it's not worth the energy to hate someone the way displayed in this situation.

Speak for yourself. If "This Is My Moment" is the direction she's going, then let her make more, by all means.

Might have clicked the red button on my badges and cursed himself with 24 hours of Bieber hahahahahahaha!
Actually I just found out a way to avoid being cursed with 24 hours of Bieber fever! I just edited my profile, and then it reset back to my original avatar. VICTORY!

OT: Yeah, I totally agree. "Friday" was an absolutely horrible song, but does the girl truly deserve to have her life threatened over it?

A laser-guided ball that only made exact 90-degree turns and shot up an unnecessary signal flare every time it did.

I think simply because she isnt particulairly good and her songs are pointless with terrible lyrics. This multiplied by the fact that it was played every-dang-where, mostly out of parody.
