Pointless, stupid, makes you look like a tit and it is not needed

For a singer to use Auto-Tune would be like a golfer using a laser guided ball
you mean like nearly every pop singer out there? they all use their laser guided golf balls.

OT: i hate Rebecca Black about as much as i hate every other pop singer out there, because she is no better or worse than any of them. the only reason why she ended up getting chewed out was because the internet got to her first, so she was already beaten before any of the giggly fans she would have otherwise had had gotten to her.

Well, I like the song Friday, I think it is a good song, if a bit silly, her singing isn't that great but it's alright, however because of all the haters she ended up famous and made My moment which is just not a good song at all, but it's the haters faults for doing it, anyway it's amazing how many people there are that hate on her, I was especially surprised when a few friends at the My Little Pony group got annoyed at me for liking her, Love & Tolerance my ass...

BECAUSE.
Actually, I don't hate her as much as I hate the perpetuation of the meme. I hate people bringing up that goddamn song every week. It never fails, and it makes me rage a bit. And she isn't really talented, so... yeah. I don't know about you, but I saw that "unplugged" version of her song... yeeeeah, I think I'll do just fine if I never hear that again. And I heard that before I heard the auto-tuned version of the song, so I pre-hated it.

I hate her music. I don't want to kill her but her singing is lazy and nasal and the auto tune barely hid anything. I think if you are a singer auto tune is cheating. There are so many more talented people out there, why waste 15 minutes of fame on her?

Seriously, why do people hate her so much? I've read a ridiculous amount of death threats in the comments section of her YouTube music videos, and I find it to be absolutely absurd. Don't get me wrong, I'm not personally a fan of her music, but her voice did sound pretty good when she sang a few lines from the US National Anthem on that interview.

Granted, they did use auto-tune in her song "Friday", but that shouldn't totally ruin her credibility as a talented singer. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Oh fuck... I just had to click that red button, didn't I?
It's not about her talent (though honestly she's an average singer at best), it's the fact that they've tried to make her famous via subversive tactics. They released Friday, a gawdawful song in order to:

A) make her (in)famous, thereby putting her name out in the public

B)make anything she made after that "good" by comparison, thereby increasing everyone's opinion of her

Rebecca Black is based entirely upon that, not her own merits, and I see it as a slap in the face to all those artists who earned their fame through hard work, innovation, a love for the medium, and real skills.

I think she was trying to be like Justin Beiber, in the sea of oddballs where singers were trying to be as weird, kooky or dramatic as humanly possible, he came along and was so incredibly boring and generic that youngsters who knew no better saw his undeniable blandness as unique.

You see while Beiber used a few popular recording artists to make his blandness shine, Black used the entire music industry to release a song that is considered to be the worst song ever made, and because it's the worst, it gets attention, and because it gets attention, she gets money along with a fanbase.

There's a reason why they say all publicity is good publicity.

I will not address the topic, because 1) it shouldn't need to be and 2) doing so only perpetuates everything. What I will say is this: YouTube comments should rarely, if ever, be taken seriously. Especially the negative ones. Lot's of anonymity-fueled bile there.

Because her song "Friday" is one of the worst songs I have ever heard.
And somehow her "Friday" music video is related to EVERYTHING on youtube.

HOW THE HELL is she related to MLP?! TELL ME!

Posted it before, gonna do it again.

Note he derides the song as 'possibly the first pop song with less than one note', but to get millions of people to anonymously bully her is out of order, and far in excess of the weight of the song.

It's a bit dodgy him then personally abusing Bieber after calling out people for having a go at Black, but I can go with most of it.

Also, maybe it was a cynical marketing ploy, hearing that she donated a bunch from the Friday single to the Japan earthquake fund sure as hell earned her some points.

She's still a bloody awful singer with bloody awful songs, but I don't hate HER, I just wish she'd stop now she's had her fame.

Personally I can't see her being much worse than most of the Z rated 'pop acts' that show up, release a variant on 'ooh baby I love you baby' and then fade away to nothing 6 months later.

I think she only got the massive hate because it went viral. As Brooker says, if it wasn't for the sheer level of hate she got, she'd never have been on Jay Leno's show or all the others, so if you bitched about her, you helped her up the ladder to fame.

From my personal experience, while everybody says they hate the song, the number of people who not only listen to it, but have memorized the whole thing says that they actually like it but wont admit to it cause that would be uncool. So my conclusion is that anyone who says they hate the song is probably a tool.
That being said I don't find it significantly better or worse than all the stuff you hear on pop radio stations.
You must enjoy throwing the word "tool" around like an idiot. You're a real dumbass if you really think anyone who doesn't like that song is a tool just because "it's cool to hate it." Wanna know why I hate it? Because it exemplifies what's wrong with the music industry: genuinely talented people being pushed aside in favor of anyone that is capable of making generic, auto-tuned garbage.

She's shit. That's why.

Then again, telling her to go kill herself and sending death threats just because she's a crap singer is way out of line. Most of the people saying these things couldn't sing any better, anyway.

If she had been captured on video doing something which ended up gaining her the notoriety she currently experiences, you might have a point, but she did this to herself. She and her parents spent a couple grand making that video in an effort to famewhore.

Hating her is hating the quick money, lazy, talent-less, reality television-driven celebrity culture in the United States today. She represents everything that is evil and wrong with the world of entertainment today, and people are lashing out against that. I don't hate her, but I understand the sentiment entirely, because I feel the same hate for the system that all the people who lash out at her do. I just know where it comes from and direct my antipathy accordingly.

She wanted this. She spent thousands of dollars of her parents' money and several hours of her life on this pathetic plea for attention. She and her parents are useless, and they have worked very hard to make the world a dumber, less interesting place.

I feel absolutely no sympathy for her, whatsoever, and I really wish she'd figure out something useful to do with her life. I doubt that'll happen, though, because people who engage in this type of idiocy rarely have anything meaningful to contribute to the world.

No hate towards here whatsoever, but she js just a very prevalent flesh and blood incarnation/result of a system I despise, creating crap music for the sake of cash, degrading music and the image of that demographic of people by thinking its actually worth doing in the first place.

Actually I think it should. Kesha pisses me off enough with that "sing-talk" BS. Friday was a terrible song, terribly sung, and that random black guy creeped up the entire production into Pedo Bear territory. There is only ONE good thing that came out of Friday...
