I like how everyone makes her the perfect example of down-washed trash the music industry puts out even though she has fuck all to do with it.
She's just a kid that had her dream of making a somewhat professional music video fulfilled, nothing more.
It's pretty disgusting how people act like it's all her fault because she wanted attention or some shit when the video was never meant to become "famous" at all.

Because the internet has a bizarre fetish of making people famous by hating them.

I certainly wouldn't have heard of Millionaires if the internet collective didn't despise them, and I'd be missing out on some pretty well-written beats if I hadn't heard of them. (Millionaires is an especially interesting example, as they are fully aware that the internet hates them, and trolls their haters as much as they can to make them watch more, and thus make them more money. It works.)
There's hate for them on the Internet? I used to make fun of my Girl Friend for liking them. There was a point when I had to get all of her music for her on her Ipod and I told her that there wasn't a torrent for it anywhere even though I didn't look because I didn't want it in my Music on Itunes. I'm not going on there youtube videos to say "You guys suck get off the world" or something equally retarded.
<youtube=yn5WKMiyV3c>

Check the comments on this video. Just because you're classy enough to not go to the videos to rip on the comments doesn't mean others are.

Then, if you feel bold, check their MySpace. They sarcastically label themselves the "apocalypse of music" then simultaneously thank and flip off their haters.

These girls THRIVE on internet hate.
It's interesting that they call themselves the apocalypse of music. I heard of self confidence but that's just arrogance on their part that they're willing to ruin music for the sake of trolling and making money. Yet I digress isn't that the goal of a troll anyway but I wouldn't want that label on my artistic legacy.

Because everyone hates her, and she is oblivious to it. She's ignorant, and a terrible singer.
Stop projecting.

She's a better singer than most (the autotune wasn't her choice, and was totally unneeded) and she's VERY VERY aware that everyone hates her.

To say otherwise is pure blind hate. Stop it, you're better than that.
If she's so talented, and confident with her talent, why did she delete 'Friday' off of YouTube?
Because she's VERY VERY aware that people hate her.

It doesn't matter how confident you are, when you have the most mocked video in the world starring you, you don't want it out there. She kept it up as long as she did because of ad revenue.

Besides, you're conveniently overlooking the fact that Ark Music offered to take it down, and she REFUSED. And then left it up for another five or six months. Clearly, she's more confident than you imagined.
When you have a video with 400 million views, and over 97% dislikes, its pretty fair to say that the general consensus is that you have no talent. And until anyone can show me proof to the contrary, I will keep arguing about it.
And even if she was a good singer, the video and the song were horrible.
The lyrics were awful ("Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal?!?!? Seriously?)
The props were poorly made (Like that giant crappy bus stop sign) and the actors were way too cheesy.
And the rest of the song as a whole was gimmicky and stupid. And why was there a random rap in the middle of it?
Because she didn't write it, or have any control over the production.

Period.

As for talent:

<youtube=FZQ0Fsk468s>

She's right, by the way. Not great, not awful. The only thing off in that excerpt was an overly repressed "ear" in "early". Sounds absolutely fantastic for a thirteen-year-old.

If I recall, it was removed because of a dispute between the Ark Music Factory (The company that Rebecca's parents paid to make the song and video) and Youtube. Something about them wanting the scrounge a ton of cash from advertising or some crap.

Nothing to do with Rebecca.
Thank you for that. (That was genuine, not sarcasm)
It shows how oblivious she really was to how much people hated her and her music.
NO IT DOESN'T. That's like saying "Rebecca Black is on Youtube, therefore her house must be made of bricks". Ark Music Factory disputes have no effect on Rebecca's attention.

You think she was oblivious? Explain her comments on how she feels cyberbullied, or how she must have missed every single reference to her on the internet for the past six months. Please think realistically.

Or, are you going to keep arguing that she can only fit into your perception of her and that your view is authority, despite you clearly not looking into Rebecca Black beyond one video that she had actually surprisingly little to do with?

I said "sarcastically".

Excerpt from their MySpace page:

Millionaires are ruining music. The songs made by the Huntington Beach duo-Melissa Marie Green and Allison Green -will make you want to gouge out your ears. They are the downfall of society. 2010, the year their debut full-length is scheduled to come out, will probably bring the Apocalypse.

Wait a second. That can't be true. Catchy, fun electro-pop songs made by cute, foul-mouthed girls who are both 21 and under can't possibly be the thing that ends the world, can it? Truth is, their songs aren't gonna ruin anything...

I know sarcasm doesn't usually read well into the internet, but no one's THAT dumb that they'd call themselves "the apocalypse of music" with a straight face.

Besides if they WERE the apocalypse of music, well... there's certainly worse ways for it to end.

Gee golly gosh! At least seventy percent dislikes!

Still trolling isn't something good on artistic legacy its overall sets a bad example. Yeah they're having fun but setting a point that you can make shitty songs for lulz post them online so people can hate them and you make money from it. It gives other people ideas that you can make a horrible songs have no singing talent and you'll end up rich. While those that really have musical talent end up having a harder time getting through all the crappy wannabes that'll flood the market.

Considering the epic hate that the internet dishes out, that's an ENORMOUS improvement. Also, this song is NOTHING like the last one, and is better in every possible way (now that she has some say in how it turns out). Personally, I'd stick it on my iPod.

What, did you even bother LISTENING to it? Or do you just not update your own prejudices whatsoever?

Except the Millionaires are good, so it's not an issue.

Voices? Not really. But they did EVERYTHING in their songs, they didn't hand it to some random dude in the local studio. And the music they write and record is quality stuff that they worked hard on.

Rebecca Black does bad music, but there are many artists who are much worse, its just popular to hate her.

Because she became famous for a stupid viral video that is only popular because people think it's awful, while talented people trying to break into music continue to get ignored. There are many competent people out there, so how the crap is she the spotlight of music right now?

I didn't hate her, per se. I hated the fact that her song "Friday" was as dumb as an old potato sack dressed up as a lovely bride. The lyrics were pointless, the song felt empty and well...to summarize, the song was horrible. I suppose it's harsh to judge an artist by their songs, but guess what? IT'S ONLY EXPECTED!

I heard the producer composed her song and that's why it's lame. Her voice is....not bad. Not awesome, but she still has a long way to go. So what I also hated is the song's sudden popularity. Like I said, it was nothing special and yet the video had like 100 bazillion views.

I don't hate Rebecca. I watched some of her "parody" videos where she pokes at her song's ridiculousness and I thought she was funny in her own 13 year old, innocent way. She's alright. But she's not the best thing to happen to the internet. And that's what upsets me.

Autotune is still a bit hard to use.
It isn't.

The Autotune that producers use for studio recording does not sound like the example in that video. They actually go into each individual note and move the waveform onto the correct pitch.

The video you listed was a flat, general autotune laid across the entire track.

Personally I can't fucking stand autotune, the way it sounds and everything it represents and I refuse to use it.

I watched the whole thing the day it came out.
Nobody in their right mind would continue to do something that everyone hates unless they desperately wanted the attention, or the money. William Hung comes to mind as someone who did the same.
She's either trolling hard core, or an idiot.
And a greatly improved song? She does the same thing as the 'fun fun fun fun' but instead she goes 'my my my my'. And the Autotune is a true testament to her singing ability, but it is more subtle than her first song.
EDIT: Since my last post, the number of views has doubled, and the number of dislikes has increased 10%. I expect it to keep rising.

70% dislike =/= everyone hates.

I want her to continue.

According to the above the song, she will, much to your chagrin. And I can list a hundred different ways this song is better than "Friday", but being classically trained gives me an unfair advantage here.

Anyways, subtle autotune = good autotune.

Millionaires good that subjective as hell maybe if they were around in the 80's. I can't get behind their sound or lack or and of course they aren't trying to make a good music. they want to make crap to piss people off because that makes them money. The quality of their music is again very subjective I grew up on RnB and Soul so to my ears those chicks are banshees no matter how "hard" they worked on it. You can put tons of time, effort and still have a shit product by the end of the day.

That sells out over and over when they go on tour.

Your opinions are valid, but saying they aren't "trying" to make good music is projecting pretty hard, especially since you admitted they aren't your style. As someone who really likes electronica and pop, I can tell you that their work is freaking fantastic compared to most current radio stuff. They piss people off LYRICALLY to attract ad revenue, but they manage a fanbase anyways because the actual music is stuff they've actually tried to write well.
