Ok, let's say you are one of the people who doesn't mind the new Xbox One. There is nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately the very nature of it being online always and earning the ire of a lot of people is what is going to be the road block.

In a word, it will most likely be attacked constantly.

What I mean is that the fact that the PS3 with it's removing of the other OS's option was able to cause as much as a stir as it did (causing it to be attacked by a hacker group.) And the whole Ubisoft dilemma. There is very little doubt that the Xbox One will ever get a break from being a target for denial of service type attacks.

Granted, this is not a guarantee. I am not a fortune teller and I can't predict the future.
But history shows again and again that systems in the technological age that really cause the angry of enough of the "right" people, end up becoming prime targets for attacks of some sort.

That's how I see it anyway.

Your Thoughts?

While i don't like the xbone in any way form or manner . A potential threat is not a reason to not do something . If it was , none of us would go outside out of fear of accidental death . Prepare for the worst and hope for the best . That's all i got .

How about no?

While sure people might attack the xbox at first they will give up after a week or so just like they do with everything else.

I dont think the online will be a huge target although it will almost certainly draw attention and could potentially pose huge problems for Microsoft but I do see a potentially huge market for hacked Xbox Ones that dont need online authentication or Kinect and it would just be a step from that to inviting pirated games. It will be interesting to see if the Xbox One actually becomes available widely as a modified console I mean if people cant get something one way they will get it another. Or noone cares and just gets a WiiU and/or PS4 instead.

I don't see the Xbone being a massive target (or at least to the extant you are predicting)

I do however see it as potential factor in piracy, with mods and hacks to remove the required Kinect and Xbox Live/DRM 'Features.'

No offense but this is a silly theory.

PS3 became a target because they took something very popular away a significant chunk into the consoles life cycle.

While not making it particularly clear what's on offer (or not) XB-One has announced from the get go that there'll be some restrictions/features/whatevers.

As Little Gray says... Maybe it will receive some negative attention but that'll be short lived.

I think the Kinect bullshit is the biggest problem right now, not the online stuff, that and the complete castration of it's used games market.

Still, if it has enough exclusives lots of people will complain, and then buy it anyway. Because ultimately people buy consoles to play games, or at least they used to. hmmm You know.... with the changing market I don't think anyone can really say how this will turn out.

Seeing what hackers / DDoS attacks are doing nowadays, I figured they would become a target anyways. Just because.

Now please, stop being one of the people who make such a big fuss out of not buying something. It's getting silly. You wouldn't walk into McDonalds and start shouting all the things you're not buying. Well then; why would you do that here?

I think MS have much better developed server infrastructure than Sony, Ubi and most of the companies out there.
The fact that they're starting with only 21 countries, shows that they are aware of that possibility.

But I'm not a fortune teller either. So, it may be a complete disaster.
And if it happens, more power to the gamers then. MS will be forced to remove the online check.

You mean the wrong people, right? Frame it any way you like, we're talking about people who are depriving their fellow gamers and consumers the right to make their own decisions, and consume entertainment in the way they like.

No reasoning or justification takes away from the fact those are very petty and selfish people.

If the PS3 was hacked because it was reviled, and therefore 360 was the beloved console, how come the 360 was hacked multiple times too?

If theres one thing I've learnt, its that Pirates always find a way (or a bay if you'd prefer).
The grass is green, the sky is blue and people hack consoles.

I'm not condoning it, I'm just saying it happens every generation.

I read that as "Why You Need To Adopt My Onion" and had a weird mental image about a baby vegetable.

Even though the headline is a bit over the top, I agree with the OP. After everything Microsoft has done, I bet there are lots of groups just waiting to DDoS the hell out of Xbone.

It's in a rhetorical sense, as in, people who have the right skills to complete a job. That's why there was quote marks.

Hacking And DDOS are definitely bad things, and are never justified in any scenario.

I Apologize with my over the top title, I am sadly an eccentric person and are a bit stemmed in the dramatics. On a side note, "Why You Need To Adopt My Onion" needs to be a thing like, right now.
