I can't figure out the appeal here. I guess for those with a real need for a tablet PC it's cool. Beyond that...maybe I'm missing something.
I really couldn't have put it better myself. My entire music class has been talking about this thing for weeks, pretending that this is some kind of new innovation.sneeky033 said:but plenty of people will buy it, just because it's shiny, new, overhyped apple tech. the problem is that this is an example of how the company is mercilessly taking advantage of their dedicated fanbase for their own profit. people will buy it, show it to all their friends, realize that it's an ipod touch without the portability, and leave it on the coffee table, trying to convince themselves that it wasn't a waste of money.Wiezzen said:Seriously, who the fuck cares? oh, and a crippling technical flaw will be discovered soon after the launch that renders the entire first generation useless. just calling that one now.

Meh, I have an iPod touch and I enjoy all its functions. Most other products fail or are so simple they are marketed towards retards.faceless chick said:since when has apple made anything useful -PERIOD?Mechanix said:Since when has apple made anything useful that isn't an iPod?
the ipod is just an overpriced mp3 player that you have to BUY music for. it costs 3 times more than the mp3 player i got and mine is much better.
but somehow owning an ipod is "cool".
that's the only reason their stuff sells at all.

Yeah, after mp3 players became popular and didn't have shit storage space. Like it or not, the iPod was what put mp3 players on the map and gave manufacturers a reason to make them not suck.faceless chick said:since when has apple made anything useful -PERIOD?Mechanix said:Since when has apple made anything useful that isn't an iPod?

OT: Meh. I didn't see anything special about it. If anything it looked a bit lame. Oh well. You just know that there are going to be a nice lineup of people camping outside the Apple stores a few days before the release.
what about netbooks? you could get a new dell mini 10 with a 10 inch screen, windows 7, and a 3G connection (on at&t, verizon, or sprint) for around $450. ($400 for windows xp)Silverwebsurfer said:The appeal is the processor 1GHz, 10 hour battery, weight (1.5,6 pounds) and oddly low price at £260.
Also there's the idea of truly portable word processing, no-one likes typing on a blackberry or iphone, no likes carrying a laptop around, an iPad (I preferred the prototype rumor name iProd btw) will be for businesspeople, and students, it's the right price and portability.
I'd get one if i had £260 lying around
