Why do we all hate Piers Morgan?
And then there was the thing that actually got him sacked as editor for News of the World; printing photos on page one that he claimed showed British troops pissing on an Iraqi detainee.
Photos which were faked. Like, really, really obviously faked.
But he still printed them anyway because it would sell more papers. I mean, why should he let a little thing like the security of our troops abroad get in the way of making a little extra cash?

He's just an odious man. You Americans are blissfully ignorant of the shit he pulls routinely. Besides his personal involvement in the recentish phone hacking scandal he has also been involved in insider trading and knowingly printing false photographs of British troops abusing Iraqi prisoners. Not to mention his other threatening use of private detectives to dig up dirt on... well, just about anyone he decides he doesn't like.

We tried to send him to Australia like in the good old days, but they weren't having any of it- this was the next best option. Also, no take-backsies allowed! Niether person falling off a segway has disproved his statement but I find his hubris entertaining. Piers is a vile toad, hes made a fortune off the lowest form of "journalism" reporting on peoples private lives, harrassing their children and profiting from the misery of others. Multiple sources alleged he was bragging about phone hacking at parties etc. and he was fired for running front page pictures of British soldiers torturing Iraqis that turned out to be clear fakes. No doubt his douchebaggery cost lives that time.
Everything this man has done professionally has caused damage harm and upset to others, which is why I was never shocked to hear he went on to judge "talent shows". It gives him another chance to look down on, ridicule and exploit needy and damaged people.
Clarkson should run for prime minister.

His (direct) involvement in the phone hacking scandal is best explained a wee bit more for our international partners in time travel and chat.Daveman said:

So... seeing him on television is generally not a very uplifting experience, even before he decides to be an utter **** to his guests.
You have to realize, as bad as he is, he cannot be worse than Rush Limbaugh, and he can still do what he wants with relative ease around here....
