Oh, wow, you're gonna get flamed boy.
This website is very nostalgic, and most of these people did know about FO1+2 before 3 was announced. I'd heard a lot of love for those 2 before I heard about 3 as well.

I, personally cannot judge FO1+2 as I don't have the second, and I can't get the resolution patch to work for the first.
We are? I never noticed. Well then I'll flame too.

Op. It's all about those nostalgic fanboys who'd say that the Snes is better than a ps3/xbox just because they grew up with one.
Fallout 1 and 2 wore good games then they wore released but they have not aged that well, I guess and to be honest, neither have black isle/obsidian. It was said that Fallout: New Vegas would bring back the old feel and tone of the original fallout games but all that i can see at the moment is building without glow textures and badly animated characters.
Ugh, it feels like i am going off topic here, anyway....
To sum it up. People who liked fallout 1 and 2 did not like fallout 3 because it was resembling TES4: Oblivion way to much, not what would have been expected from a fallout game, and the turn based combat is gone... thank god for that one.

Possibly because many of the Fallout players originally played 1 & 2.
As someone who played 3 first I found it to be better in just about every way, though a lot of that might have been down to subjective choice. I played one and two not long ago and just found them unimmersive and bland, but I suppose the mechanics just seem too dated to me.

Nah I liked to point out again. But I also dislike anyone who makes threads that start like yours. "Hi I have a topic, but since I can't think of a good way to do it. I'll just insult something, someone or the like."
Can you please point out where he "Insulted something" it was just a question and I can't see how
"I'm sorry if this thread was already made, but why is Fallout 1 and 2 considered better than Fallout 3"
That is not offensive in any way what-so-ever unless you made fallout 2 of course.

First things first. FO1 and 2 were classic long long before anyone heared a thing about FO3. They were classics back in their era already.

Considering the times either of the games were made, Fallout 1 and 2 were masterpiece of their times, with great setting, interesting plot, open-worldness, characters, everything that makes a game good. It was in its times classified as masterpiece and among few nonlinear cRPGs it took the top spots along with Daggerfall and Planescape:Torment.

Now Fallout3 was nothing on it. It didnt relate to first two of the series to well, for many of fans it was ruined IP, but to make things worse there wasnt anything special about the game itself compared to other productions of nowadays industry. It lacked the humor of the first parts, the graphics while decent where not really amazing, the world seemed lacking and it was..Oblivion with Guns.
If not the modding community i wouldnt really bother going back to the game after single play-through, while i still do enjoy returning to FO1 and 2 every now and then.
FO3 didnt do anything above avarage.

Frankly the reason i see FO3 being so popular among the current generation of gamers is the shooter elements, its almost like majority of players these days cant focus on a gameplay that doesnt involve live action elements.

Call me a nostalgic ho, but then ill just say you are spoiled brats with attention span of a borderline ADD kid on sugar diet :p

The storyline, when judged seperatly, is fine in all three games, there are inconsistancys between the first 2 and fallout 3, i hope they can resolve some of these when it comes to new vegas, the thing about the lore though is that it was purposly planned to be vague, and to mirror to opinions or beliefes of the characters you encountered, at no point in any of the games do you recieve a complete factual history, so as far as lore goes im not to fussed, they could have tried a bit harder, but im personally fine with it. ultimatly the reason i prefered fallout 3 to the first 2 is because of gameplay, it works exceedingly well as a first person shooter, and looking back it didnt work quite as well at a bassically top down view (i dont quite know what to describe the original fallouts as, quite strange)

Lets all face it, most of us had no idea what Fallout was before Fallout 3. In fact, according to http://imgur.com/a/MZbsq, most people played Fallout 3 and New Vegas more than Fallout 1 or 2. The poll shows that 95% preferred the Fallout made by Bethesda studios, rather than Black Isle Studios. Just because you guys are fans of Black Isle Studios, doesn't mean the rest of Fallout is trash. 1,883 people preferred Bethesda's Fallout, while 113 people preferred Black Isle Studios. Around 42% of people actually preferred newer Fallout, while only 2% liked older versions. The other percentage are of people that liked both, and people that had no idea what Fallout 1 or 2 were! Bethesda really got the Fallout series going. Black Isle Studios and Interplay fell into bankruptcy because they didn't have any outstanding games that people wanted to play. They didn't invest much idea into the game. They got what they had coming to them. But Bethesda's Fallout 4 grossed over 10 million dollars in the first 3 days, leaving Call of Duty in the dust. Now, Fallout 4 has grossed over 75 million dollars, selling 12 million copies. Interplay and Black Isle's b Fallout 1 and 2 obtained around 500 thousand copies. Dear Fallout 1 and 2 fans (including DLC packs), remember, this is only 50% of the community. But now the question is, why don't we treat them both the same? Both studios had their contributions to the game, so lets just root for them both.
(Oh yah by the way, Fallout 3 has a Black Isle Mod, makes the bar at the bottom look like Black Isle's version, to all you super fans XD)
